Hi , I purchased an unbranded fibreglass body and was wondering if anyone can help with what door locks/ latch would be required?
TIA

You need to post some wider shots showing both sides of the door jamb.

Craig,

Firstly - welcome. You're in the right place - you can find almost any Cobra related information here.
Secondly - you have done really well to be able to include a picture in your first post :D
...and third - do you have any points of contact with the NSW Cobra Club?
We (forum members) are ready and happy to give advice, but there's rarely a better substitute than a local 'expert' doing a visual to give an opinion on the door latches/locks.

Cheers!
Glen

Here are some more pictures of the door opening

Looks like they use a non-Cobra latch. Would be brand specific and not a silent travel.

Not only that, but there is no substructure to mount them to.

If there is steel behind the fiberglass I can see how the standard Cobra latches could be made to work. Hard to say for sure though. That chassis looks like a production car frame with all stamped steel looking parts that I can see.

Craig, can you tell us a bit more about the chassis? As Buzz said .....a little more information might help us to understand the scope of the project - and also where you're at with it.
I've lightened the your picture a little so I can see more of the detail...

The body I’m not sure of the manufacturer. It’s sitting on a MS123 crown chassis .
It’s a project I’ve only just started on . I have a mechanical background and happy to fabricate.
The drive train will be a 302 Windsor with a BTR4

xb-60 10-26-2023 05:10 PM

Craig, what do you have apart from the Crown chassis and the fibreglass body?
There is so much that goes into building a reasonable looking Cobra replica.

Cheers!

Hi Glen, I’ve had some past experience putting together cars , here is the last project, an Austin 7 meteor

xb-60 10-27-2023 05:45 AM

Craig,
Very cool car there! How long did the 7 build take?
After seeing that, I very much look forward to your Cobra build. You're on the right forum for any information that you might need.

Cheers!
Glen

That car took me approximately 8 months of part time work on weekends and some after work afternoons .
Nearly every aspect of the seven had to be fabricated
