New to forum from Puyallup, WA
Hello my name is Michael, Live in Puyallup, Wa. I have seen alot of other members from the Pierce cty area.
I have a big question. I am 6'5" and weigh 260 pounds. One more thing, I wear a size 15 shoe. Before I get to excited about buying a Cobra, would I even fit in one? Like to hear what other members who are same size and weight to hear how comfortable it is to drive on of these. I would like to hear from a member "Jake" to see if I can come visit him and see how I fit in his. So far looking at a FFR with a BB and a toploader 4 speed. Dont have many other specs worked out as of yet. Just the basics. Thanks Michael Gibeault |
Mike.. anything with a 90" Wheelbase (stock Cobra WB) is going to be pretty short for a guy your size. You might try looking at a Superformance Coupe with a 93" WB. Even then, you'd have to make a few changes in the way the stock seat is mounted, but then there's LOTS of room, even for a guy as tall as you are. Size 15s are tight , but with the right shoes you can make it work. Right now with a Cobra roadster your eyes will probably be even with the top of the windscreen! Just remember...If you really want a Cobra anything can be reworked to fit. Badger

That is another concern, I once drove a new C5 Corvette vert, I drove with my head sticking up above the windshield. Otherwise I was hunched over to look under the visors attached to the windshield. Im not sure what I want to do now. I need to go sit in one and see how much I can compromise comfort. I know that I have read about enlarging foot boxes.

I got bad news for you. I'm 6' 2" at about 205lbs. I fit in my C5 with ALOT of room to spare. I sat in a bunch of Cobras that I could barely fit into. My Hurricane has way more room than most and I fit perfectly. At 6"5", I doubt you would be comfortable in any of the currently offered Cobras. Jim |

Sorry that I must disagree with Jim's (JWD) last sentence. Glad to meet a normal sized person. :D I'm 6' 6" and weight about 300, but I only have a petite 13 1/2 shoe. :LOL: There are a lot of "stretched" wheelbase Cobras out there which offer more room. Some of the stretched versions look a little weird, but whatever it takes. First, Welcome to Club Cobra!! True, Hurricane if you want to attempt a classic 90" wheel base, with your height. Mine is an early model, and does not have the additional fender well cut out, but I know it makes a real difference. Dash height may still make things cramped for you climbing out, even with the newer additional seat track mounting getting more travel. Another Texas builder, Lonestar with their regular build 94" base and greatly reclined seats. I am 5'7" and I ride in a friend's frequently... LITERALLY 10"+ leg room for me on the passenger side and a very high dash clearance. |

First welcome to the club and second, yes you can get a Cobra that you can fit in. Several manufacturers will lower floor pans and change thing to customize for your size. If you are looking for one that will closely resemble an original, then the stretched wheelbase kind is out. But if not, then you could talk to Bill Emerson who advertises on here and he can tell you all about the ways to make a car fit as he has built some for very large and very tall people. Also I believe, but am not sure, that Kirkhams will work with you and make adjustments so that you can feel comfortable in their car which is a top line car that looks very original. anyway, you will be able to find one that you can drive and enjoy. I am 6'-2" and 235 lbs and fit in an older Superformance (#113). This does not have the lowered foot boxes that the newer ones have yet I fit in it fine. I do look out of the top 2" of the windshield, but you get use to that. Superformance has a sub dealer in the Seattle area. I believe it is Park Place Motors. Their prices are a little higher than other dealers but this is a local place you could go to sit in a 90" cobra or even the SPF Coupe. This would be a start. Also if your not sure that you will like this car for the long haul, you might start with a used Cobra. Here under Cobras For Sale or the Cobra Country website are two good places to look for the used ones. That is what I did. I bought what I thought I wanted as a used Cobra thinking that I would keep it for two years......figure what I really wanted and didn't want.......... and then order a new one. However, it's been four years and I love this one so much I'm keeping it. Happy hunting!!! Scott |
backdraft. the only way to go in my opinion, best bang for the buck my fat ass is 6,2 240# plenty of room.. get as many ponies as you can afford... you will always want more. just my two cents, good luck
