Nice shots of the brakes, thanks. The coupe is looking real good, great profile, she's coming along very nicely!

Hey Mat, I was just curious about the weight. I'm so big and fat that trying to build a super light car for me is pointless. I climb in and the scales go crazy.
I don't think I will be able to make Run n Gun. If by chance I can, I will leave my Cobra Tribute at home and bring a car that I'm building now. It's has the drivetrain and suspension from a Miata bolted into a space frame and covered by a 50's styled sports car body. I'm building it from scratch. All stock parts. So, not fast. But, fun and inexpensive. Love your Daytona. Keep the updates coming. |
|
do you think it sounds different with the twin side pipes than it would with a single side pipe?
|
I can answer that? Yes, it definitely sounds different and unique.
|
I thought he was going to lock the hubs in and go four-wheeling for a minute.
|
if you drop it down to minimum ride height like 3.75/4.50, the roll center is -1.2/-.475. kind of helps with the weight problem.

A couple more pics to show body work is coming together. Gas caps are figured out. Door button/locks are figured out. Pontoon molds will be done this week. Headlight bucket molds should be done soon too. The side windows and rear hatch should be shipped out this week, so I'm hopeful it will be here soon. Getting more excited all the time.

What's up with the Matmobile?
|
The matmobile has been getting alot of small detail stuff finished up. Main body is on the chassis with headliner glued in. The Pontoons are done and fitted to the car. Hood latches are fitted and functional. Hood just need holes cut for headlights and buckes made for fog lights. Door latches are frenched in and done. Rear hatch frame is done. Rear duckbill is in the mold I belive. Guess I better finalize my paint colors pretty soon. I'll get more pics today or tomorrow.

hey Mat don't you think it is time for some update photo's since your JBL Coupe is just about finished?
I was over at the JBL shop and was very much impressed with the quality of Larry Goins build. I think when the final pictures are posted all of you will agree the new JBL Coupe by Goins Motorsports is truely a top tiered representation of the classic Daytona Coupe. Mat and Larry are planning its unveiling at the Shelby Meet here in Tulsa the week of Fathers Day (June 19-23), 2013. From the monster engine that Brent Lykins built to compliment the JBL Coupe which is impecably built and designed thru the skillful eyes of Richard Hudgins (former Porsche design engineer), I think anyone that knows anything about these cars will agree this is truely an exceptional representation of Peter Brocks legendary Daytona Coupe. I want one too! Clois Harlan |
Here's a few more pics. Windshield, rear hatch and door glass should get mounted in the next day or two. Rear spoiler mold is about done too. Hood has struts to hold it up nicely. Everything is fitting extremely well. Larry's body experience is obvious when you see how well every thing fits together.

looks very cool. What size tires/rims are you running?
|
I think Mat told me he was running 335/35/17 Nittos and 275/35/17 Nittos. I think Mat wants plenty of rubber on the track. :)
|
that will do it! Nice to see that big rubber all tucked under fenders.
|
Clois is close. 17x 275s in front and 17x315 in back. Wheels are by Team III. I think they do a very nice job. When I get some track wheels, I'll most likely be running 335s in the back, hopefully on 18" rims. Just haven't picked them out yet. I wish Team III made them, but they don't yet. Those 315s should be pretty nice though. Can wait to try them out soon!

It's a short term memory thing Mat. I just asked you on Sunday what the sizes were and forgot within hours. I'm hosed!!!
I went to Larrys' yesterday to take a look at the windows and latches he installed and I couldn't be more impressed with his meticulous efforts to make sure your coupe is perfect. You are going to have a Coupe that will actually be worth a $100,000. I think it will be something special on the track and on the street. The craftsmanship is impecable, I bet you couldn't be more pleased. Clois |
the glass helps the body lines, makes it look much better. a person still doesn't get the right perspective of height and width unless another from a different manufacturer is next to it.
oh, and who's purple car? Brett's? |
