Which AC COBRA

Dear you all , I know that my question has been asked many times , but I read most prior threads and they are a little old on time.

I am trying to get a AC Cobra Kit; there are many models but I have seen FF,Unique, Shell valley , etc most of them made changes on their kit lately , and my budget is not in the range of Superformance, K , or backdraft.

So I am planning to get the best , base kit with the most part included in the kit with the best kit design possible out there , asking to much , please help.

I will use a 1987 Mustang 302 GT / T5 / and it has 8.8" , is and EFI but I will changed to carburated.

thank you

Renzo

THat's like asking how long is a string. THey all have good points and they all of bad points. Were it me, I would shop around for the best deal I could find on a used Contemporary or ERA and buy one already assembled. It's faster to get on the road, and in the long run, a better choice, I think. If I had resolved to buy a kit, any of the three mentioned would be a good choice. Probably the FF, given you choice of donor vehicles.

What is your budget like? That may be the limiting factor of which kit will be right for you.

Sounds like a Factory Five may be a good choice. They make a great kit at a good price point, and it's optimized for donor parts.

But like Dan said - look for an already finished one. Unless you are absolutely in love with getting elbow deep into the mechanical parts of this yourself, and if your ultimate goal is to drive the car, getting one that is already done will save you lots of frustration. Many "kits" are for sale unfinished because people get frustrated with the assembly. Fiberglass isn't as easy as it looks, especially to get the "seamless" look and feel of an original aluminum body. And then you still have to go through getting the power train and all the other mechanicals (like brakes and clutches) sorted out.

If you buy an already finished car, you will love it. If you have the fortitude to get a kit and follow through you will love it even more.

There are quite a few good running replica's on the for sale section of this site. Many are factory rollers or turn keys. The more factory built they are (as a rule) the better! $40K to 100K will buy you an awsome AC!! Depending on what your after. The best lower budgit (top quality) kit IMO, would be the FFR MKIV if you are determined to build. But you will still end up over $40K min.for a quality self build

Welcome to the Addiction! There is no Cure! :3DSMILE:

Maybe the best advice you will ever receive. George

If you want to save time and money, I have a stunning Pro built FFR MK-IV I have desided to sell. Over $ 72,000 invested and I be listing it soon and asking $ 48,000

If is a mint Factory Five MK-IV (2010 body built in 2011) that was Pro built and tuned and dyno'ed at Mr. Norm's in Chicago last year. I am 6'2" and fit fine.

It is powered by a new Ford SVT 2003 Terminator 4.6 alloy block, Terminator Alloy heads and cam, Wipple 2.3 Supercharger, long tube headers and side piped with O2 sensors and Tremac five speed . (I have two sized spools, pulleys and belts that will drop the Hp to around 540). The car is absolutely stunning and built to perfection with over $ 72,000 spent. Viper Metallic Blue with white stripes. Too much to mention until I create a proper classified ad.

Currently running the small spool and is dyno (Mr. Norm's) @ 674.3hp (at the rear wheels) and 662 of torque. It is actually as drivable as a Honda, but can get as wild as you would like. Full SVT Racing gauges, GPS speedo, push button start, everything is just beautifully done. and currently 625 miles. It is registered and titled as a 1965 Ford. Ready to let it go.

Email or PM.

Hkplinker, may I ask why you're selling such a new and beautifully finished Cobra? Is there something about the ownership experience that you didn't like?

It happens more than you would think. Guys drop a lot of cash, have a custom Cobra built to their specs, then dump the car shortly after it's done. For a lot of reasons, I guess... but the most common is that it just wasn't what they thought it would be. The reality didn't live up to the dream.:(

Oh man. How sad that ownership was not as desirable as the dream. I still work on and change mine. I wonder if I will ever be bored of screamin' around corners, and waking up Z-06 vetts. Porshes think they are tops. Scary.
