Growing up, I was always a "car guy" in a family that saw vehicles as conveyances, nothing more.

When I went off to college, I sold my econobox (VW Rabbit) because it just wasn't practical or needed while living in the dorms. During a free moment, I sat down and calculated all my expenses related to car ownership, and it became clear that insurance and gasoline were where most of my money went. I decided at that point that I wouldn't buy boring cars just to save money on the car purchase. My next car was a Porsche 912. And thus began my lifelong appreciation of the mark.

After years of small-bore sports car ownership, I decided it was time to experience something with torque. Lots of torque. I'd admired Mustangs and Camaros during HS, but figured that if I was going to "muscle car", the top dog was the Shelby Cobra. At approximate 40 yo I managed to pick up a Kirkham roller at a good price, and installed a 427SO with a bit over 500bhp and similar torque. Smokey, black burnouts ensued.

Mission accomplished.
