17 yrs ago I agonized over the very same thing,also with the same focus.The Co I chose offered one of the best,at least as far as stiff frame,great fibergalss work,correct dimensions for the 427 cobra goes.Not to mention the options that were available,so in the end I became a very contented big block powered, road race prepared, kit cobra owner.Customer service turned into a nightmare,eventually the Co went bust.Luckily another much more responsible Co took over.So with that,keep doing your homework and good luck

The 289 FIA version or a Slabside 289 made by people Like Kirkham, ERA & Unique are a great option.
Primarily the reason I started looking at the 289 cars was budget. I wanted the best car I could build within my budget. ERA was a blessing in disguise for me at the time because the wait also allowed me to save for a couple extras that went from "dream list" to "build list". Like I said, that is why I "started" looking at the 289. Once I really got into the history of the cars I started liking the 289 car as much or more that the 427 big brother. The 289 is also different in a crowd of Cobras, it stands out. & a big part the savings can be in the Small Block. Finding a 427 Side Oiler can get really expensive in a hurry. A non side oiler block isn't exactly cheap to build either. Hope you find the car for you! Good Luck! |

KIRKHAM Sure, -they are unmatched in the their quality -they are unmatched in thier craftsmanship -they drive like no other -I still look back at my KMP everytime I walk into the house from the garage -I still get the tingly giggly feeling every time I stomp on the gas - and It's the most fun and most satisfying car I own or have ever owned But that is not why its the only clear choice for me. The family of Kirkhams provide unmatched customer service and stand behind their cars, no matter what. KMP's are a bargain in today's "super car" prices. :):3DSMILE:**)**) |

I am in the same shoes you are and about 1/2 done building my dream car. I asked a lot of questions and looked at many cars before I decided to buy a Pacific Roadster. The cost, quality of material, easy of building are all outstanding. No cutting, grinding or welding needed, just bolt it together. Vui, the owner and builder of these cars has been building cobras for the past 25 years and has a wealth of knowledge. He builds the frame, body and many of the pieced needed to build a car. He is very flexible and is willing to work with you to stay within your budge.
