:D OKAY #! Sell that thing and get your cash, #2 Start an indepth research on Cobras,#3 Anyone who has a Cobra will never want a newer series Vette (maybe Mid year 65-67) #4 Do you really want a car that some stranger has built? #5 What are you willing and capable of investing? #6 Once you have ansewred all of the above you will want to find a Superformance Cobra built on an assembly floor by people that do it everyday for a living. Your decision for cost will be based on motor design and horespower required. Go for a 351 Stroker, 396+" with 475+HP. You will never loose money and burn everything on the road. Good Luck and DO YOUR RESEARCH, AVOID PRICE POINT AND KIT CARS FROM NON- ESTABLISHED DEALERS. Regards
Aubrey

Audrey- you must be a new cobra guru, because your comments seem to be very uninformed. There are many owner built cobra replicas in existence that are outstanding and more than a match for any factory built car you can come up with. Your comments do a disservice to all of the above mentioned craftsmen.

I didn't read any disrespect into KingAub's post ----- no names no manufacturers. I think his point revolves around knowing that the car was built in a factory with standard components. That being said, there are other companies that build very nice turn-key cars.

And there are many cars that are built with very good intentions and care by people like me ---------- with average mechanical aptitude and only a semi complete workshop.

Ok, flame on.

wtcobra 08-10-2001 09:56 AM

The post was giving advice to go buy a Superformance, with the implication that others were inferior because they are not built by a factory was and is my take, and that is simply not true, but of course I don't own a Superformance either. My post was not meant to flame, but to inform the Vette owner not to be afraid of ALL other non-factory built cobras as a result of other's comments.
such as "you will never lose money" and "will burn everything on the road", if you purchase a Superformance.

Walter- I probably should have said all other non-assembly line built cobra replicas, which would include obviously, all ERA's, but I think you knew what I meant to convey. But if the Vette owner wants to trade for an ERA, he better have some cash along with the 99 Vette, right, quality does cost.

99 Vette

Whoa! I did not mean to slam anyones ride. Their are lots of kit built cars that are superb in every aspect. I was only directing the gentleman to a factory produced car for a starting point and all components can be identified along with consistant quality.

Give him a break!!!

Hey,

At least the guy is smart enuff to get rid of that POS "plastic pig"... He just needs a better understanding of the different brand of Cobra's & their values... But the right way to do it was mentioned earier, sell the brand "x" crap, then shop for the Cobra that meets his needs... Just for info, replicas will run from from $20k to $120k, depending on brand, options, etc... Just my $.02...

THANK YOU TOM G.

KingAub 08-21-2001 04:00 PM

UH OH!! Looks like you Flunked; Basic Research 101 along with Economics:eek: And to think you could have waited and got the new Z06 with 420HP. You will need everybit and more to keep up with a very basic small block Cobra.:o :o

Cobranut 08-21-2001 06:35 PM

Anybody can BUY a Vette, but it means a lot more to BUILD your Cobra. :D

If everyone could do it, there wouldn't be any reason to. :3DSMILE:

Tom G

Just embarrassed a Z06 with my measly 302 in the quarter mile. Sure will be interesting when I add the Vortec. Maybe I can beat him in the quarter and come to a stop at the lights before he goes through?

Pity.... More class, character, looks and more fun at half the price.
