Chaplin 04-10-2003 09:55 AM

Bob-
I don't think it's right that you guys have been stashing away turn key cars up there while making me wait a year for mine. :3DSMILE: :p

Bob,

I think you're trying to kill me. What is the asking price?

The car is locally owned by someone with a short attention span (he bought a fancy new Mercedes something). I think that he added the Webers after we built the car and now the car is too much for him.

You'll have to call Peter for the price.

289Cobra 04-11-2003 05:58 PM

I called....... price is $49,000!!!!! Wow. Must be some gold plating on the car somewhere!

Thorin 04-11-2003 07:10 PM

The ERA 289 I was purchasing 2 summers ago, before my play money disappeared, was $45,170 - without paint or engine. $49,000 sounds great for a painted ERA, with ERA independent suspension and engine with Webs (Webs at least $3,500 to $4,000).

289
What did you pay for your 427, without the engine?

for "what it's worth"

The question with these cars is NEVER what you "paid to build it". It is always what the marketplace will pay you to for it at a later time.

My 427 cost almost $80,000 to build. (Thank God I didn't build it!) I had it advertised on here for a LONG TIME for "only" $65,000. I got WAYYYYYY LESS than that for it 3 weeks ago.............. The Cobra market is FLOODED with cars right now and $49K will buy a REALLY NICE 427 - and 289's NEVER bring as much as a 427.

Tongue Pirate 04-12-2003 08:19 AM

289Cobra's right,
2yrs. ago that car may have gone for $49,000 & may still depending on how bad a guy wants the car. But in all reality the cars on the market today are a much better deal than the kits. It's just a matter of finding one that fits your requirements.

casaleenie 04-19-2003 08:55 PM

That is one great looking car.... and I'm partial to the 289's.

289 Cobra,

Your car was one of the best deals on the market. That car was beautiful....

casaleenie 04-19-2003 08:58 PM

TP,

With what you save by buying a used car you can tweak it to exactly what you want and still come out less than a new build..
and in the meantime, you're driving a car.....

Pirate,,,the "key" is:

Finding the car you like, appointed the way you like. VERY tough for those with discriminating tastes. I've come to the conclusion the only I'm going to get everything on my wish list, is to have it built to MY specs.

......or modify the wish list.....

That car WILL sell for the asking price. You just wait and see.

JWheaton 04-20-2003 11:13 AM

Turk, you buying another car?

 :D

Cal Metal 04-21-2003 08:09 AM

Have to agree with Turk. I bet he gets close to his price. The interest in street cars with wires and under car exhaust has stepped up, and they are a refreshing change from the roll bar, side exhaust cars out there. For me, I just wish it was a solid color, no stripe car.

For someone contemplating an ERA, why wait to build your own?

I'm too d@mn picky!!! I want things exactly how I picture them or it's just not worth it to me. I would much rather spend the extra bucks & time to build it my way.:)

Turk, your car will sell for that much money - this car is not worth more than $38K.
