Re-Bid Red SPF on Ebay????
Morning all. does anyone know anything good/bad about this car? 351W / stroked 396 Red, Item #2421013836. Owner is out of town. Looks to be a great car but thought I would ask the "real" snake handlers here in club cobra.
thanks http://www.<a href="http://cgi.ebay....egory=6465</a> |
It's an SPF so you know it's good quality. I would estimate the reserve price will be in the mid 40's or higher, a "typical" price range for an SPF. I prefer the SB (351 in this case) but many people prefer the BB (427, 428, 460). It doesn't say but PROBABLY has the IRS rear suspension, which many people prefer. Expect to pay top dollar for a car like this.
Comparing Cobras/Prices is always a good bet. Here's one to compare. It's a Classic Roadster offered by Don Scott, so you know the quality is good. The C.R.'s were longer than "standard" (which I prefer for a little more room) and this one has a BB (which could a "good thing"). http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...threadid=42877 The large variance in price from one Cobra to another has a lot to do with "reputation". WHO built it and HOW becomes the "unknown" in many cars. As a result an EXCELLENT Cobra may sell for "less dollars" because the builder is not known, the frame may be a "one of" custom job, etc. Some GREAT buys are out there, but the "risk" factor increases as the price drops and you have to be "sharp" to understand a "good buy" when you see it. D Scott and DV (Ed Combs) have excellent reputations as "builders" for instance. Their cars will sell for more than an identical car built by an "unknown". Ernie |

Have Fun, Randy R... |
Ernie, thanks for the reply. I also prefer the 351 but would not hesitate buying one with BB should the right one come along. I have been looking for some time and do understand the significance of quality and reputation. Those factors have been a hugh part of the learning curve prior to a purchase. I read a lot of shop talk, cobra talk, and FE talk, here on this site. Thanks also for the info on Scott and DV. I looked at that one earlier this morning before posting. In anything one does get what one pays for. So yes, I do expect to pay for quality. Thanks again for the reply and I have learned much from reading a ton of your prior posts on here. BTW, SPF is the way I have been leaning for the past two months.

Randy good morning. Thanks for the reply. I review the cars and other items on cobra country every morning when I reach the office. Which car is yours in your gallery?

Mr Fixit
I think it would be correct to assume all SPF's are IRS, I never seen one that wasn't. BUT, I have seen some strange things done to Cobras, so I tend to take a conservative approach. I used to assume that all Hi-Techs were IRS (being they had a "reputation" for being "spot on" accurate). But I've seen two that had 9" Ford rear ends as that was considered stronger for "drag racing". NOTE: Some of the original "Dragon Snakes" did not have "knock off" wheels. Do you think they replaced the IRS with a live axle?? I don't know. Ernie |
Slowpoke,
Check out mine on both Cobra Country and Cobras for sale on this website. Not sure what your price range is but considering mine is only 2 months old I think it is an excellent deal for the $50,000 that I just reduced it to. John |
John, my friend I cant even begin to tell you how many times I have looked at your car. Too many to count. It is an absolute beauty. And yes...it is WAY to bad the hood won't close with that filter. I am trying to stay in the high 30's, low 40's. As I stated in an earlier post, I am certainly looking for quality first....and yours is exceptional no doubt, but with market conditions the way they are...I would kick myself if I didn't practice a bit of patience looking for the best possible fit of quality and price. I'm sure I will look at yours another 10 or 20 times in the next few days.

Slowpoke,
No problem. good luck in your search. I was wondering why I have over 2000 views on my ad and no serious offers yet... JB |
Bannon, you know i would have bought your car straight away. I too have been watching your threads and as we talk i am trying to convince some friends here to buy your car.
Its a great car At a fantastic price. Good luck. James. |
excalibur, not sure about the Hi-Techs, but I seem to recall that the 9" rear on the Hi Techs is a custom IRS suspension, adapted from the standard Ford 9" rear, but I could be wrong.
