Eva Roadster?
 
I'm looking at buying an Eva Roadster Cobra. It's got a chev engine and seems to be a pretty good kit. Anyone have an opinion on the Kit? It's also an automatic. I'm really looking to build a 351 but I don't have alot of time right now and thought it would be a good compromise. Any thoughts?:confused:

From my research, the Eva appears to be a Canadian produced replica...certainly not well known in the circles on this site. The fact it is designed around a Chevy motor is generally viewed as not the most desireable ..being as these are supposed to be replicas of a FordFord powered vehicle...but, then again, some guys like Chevy power...so each to his own.

Resale may be tough...probably a thin market for a somewhat limited production vehicle.

I was thinking about reselling after a couple of years. I don't see many automatic chevs around. the detail on the car is top notch but I'm also worried about the engine. It's a small block 305 with a bunch of performance extra's.

Thanks for the reply. The cobra was completed in 2000. A one piece marine quality fiberglass body was used. The kit itself is from Eva Sportscars in Vankleek Hill, Ontario.
It was appraised at approximately $40k US. Engine wise, it’s a 305 Chevy V-8 w/four barrel 600 double pumper carbs, numerous performance upgrades including a polished aluminum intake. Chrome dress up kit, turbo 350 automatic transmission. Custom designed torque fireball converter. Professionally installed interior with detail embroidery on back rests, and wood dash with removable steering wheel.
Exterior is custom painted BASF Copperhead bronze paint and six coats of clear. Runs very well and seems tight on the road. The appraiser classified it as on the high side of class 2. Finally it is a multiple show winner with documentation to back it up.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

A "non-mainstream" brand with a Chevy motor - it's always each to his own, but I suggest you watch Ebay and Cobra Coiuntry for a while - there are cars in the $25-30k range - the Chev motor will always be an issue at resale time - take a look at this quote from the ERA web site on Chevy motors in a Cobra Replica and then decide for yourself. I'm going to have to agree with Luke-44 on this one.....As for appraisals, you have to be very careful, as Insurance appraisals are a lot different than market appraisals...................Finally, there is no "class 2" when it comes to appraisals, unless of course your talking about how clean and rust free it was the day it was appraised.....Some people who write appraisals really have no clue...........Each Cobra is hand built, so there are no real guidlines to be judged against, so we judge them against themselves.................
