CSX 2532 on eBay
%/ Came across this auction this morning on eBay.
Wonder if it'll meet the reserve? Anybody know anything about #2532? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6465 |
Been watching it all week, it of course is not the second Cobra to be produced, and the serial number they reference is incorrect........We'll see what becomes of the reserve price........

Interesting car... unfortunately, the seller must be a broker who is hopelessly misinformed.
CSX2532 is actually not "the second Cobra built" Also, it began life as a standard 289...somewhere along the way it was "FIA-ized" In 1967, it may have run at Lemans, Ohio.... but in that year, I think there were only GT-40's entered in the real LeMans. :D 2530 and 2532 were mixed up in a stolen car deal a couple of decades ago. 2532 was cleared, but the bidders probably should take a real close look at the documentation of this one. |
Let's not mention the fiberglass body that was on it for a while after being wrecked................

Is that gas cap location correct? I thought they were in the middle, not off to the side.

Hey Ron, why not move this thread to the all talk area, as that is where it belongs...........Just a suggestion...........

FIA289s = large gas cap...off to the passenger side |
xlelent shots of Vics old car, recently sold for $850k! Note the "not correct" squared off roll bar. Said to have been made that way for hard top clearance

Look at the pic in front of the fountain. The butt looks perky ala' ffr. No?

Hmmmm,,,optical illusion, bad camera angle, or MERCY......FFR has it right? LOL

I love......
..the Dymo tape "1965 Cobra" label. Probably put there by AC so people wouldn't think it was a Corvette or sumpthin'

It doesn't say it was the 2nd one produced, just the 2nd one in 1965. Couldn't it have been run at Le Mans as a private team entry, not Ford or Shelby?
Looks like a pretty nice car assuming all the #s add up. Too bad someone got in there and wrote all over the dash. ;) Mike |
I went thru the entry list of Lemans 1967... no Cobra was entered, either factory, team or privateer...all GT-40s and one GT-350.
The car's rear look funky, I think, due to the tire size not filling the wheel well. Mike, the car was re-bodied. |
Interesting Ron. Jeez, things things are as convoluted to buy as old SAA Colts, and almost as expensive. ;)
|
So, what's it worth? I thought 150 large would have bought a car with such a chequered history....
I would have been wary about trying to complete the transaction with the high bidder - an Aussie with negative feedback for a Rolls Royce purchase that fell through..... Gotta watch those Aussies  |
That Rolls probably had the original engine,,,,,,,,,,when he found out it wasn't an LS1, the deal fell through. LOL
