For those who asked about 15"HP tires
Did a little research, about 15" High Performance tires, and found these(KUMHO TIRES), strange that no one here picked up on these. Bizarrely enough, as I write this new thread watching speed channel presently, guess what? A commercial for Kumho High Performance Tires.
I checked their website: http://www.kumhousa.com/ , and there is quite an excellent selection of 15" HP tires! Just thought that everyone would like to know. Nick;) |
The widest 15" tire that I saw was 275 with a 60 aspect ratio. I would like wider tires on my rear to halp hook up all my hp and torque.

Hey Carroll, is that all you found in their competition series? If so I know that BF Goodrich (EURO)Comps come in 15" 305 series, check them out.
I'm also sending you a gentleman e-mail address, contact him and ask what brand and tire size he had on his 15" Cobra rear tires. I asked him earlier, and he told me they were 305's. Sending his address to your e-mail now. Good Luck Nick |

Thanks for the information. I currently have 295s on my rear wheels. When I got them, I understood that the 305 were no longer being made.
The problem with the BF Goodrich (EURO)Comps is their speed rating. III am not aware of any wide high speed rated 15" wheel tires. It looks like the only option is to go to 17" wheels for getting high speed rated tires on a Cobra. |
Tire Size
Yes, it sure seems that way, thats my intention, when I decide which one I'm going to get.
PS Engineering makes a great 17", original styled rim, that with some Michelin Pilots. With your Superformance, you could go 275's in the front(with no rubbing), and 335's in the rear. Tires and rims is about 3K to 4K, depending upon the finish of the rims. What an awesome combination. Great looks and tremendous handling, you could really put the power to the ground! Thats the big issue with the 15" set, to easy to break loose. Some people have an issue of the look of the 17" rims, that it takes away from the originality, but that shouldn't play any role, since 99% of the people here do not own an original 65-67 Shelby Cobra anyways. Thats my perception at least. My view is if you want performance, and want to rest a little easier, when your speeding down the road, go with the upgrade. It really is a pity that none of the big 5 tire makers, don't seem to put out a wider z rated tire!!!! Nick |

Have a set of the B. F. Goodrich - Euros. As a spare set they are acceptable for track and club days. Don't know the situation there with engineer approvals for registration but I had to use BF Goodrich TA's for road. 15 inch. The Euro once used afew times seem to hang on pretty damn good. I found this Discount Tire webite is a pretty good resource for checking the size and speed rating availabilities per major tire manufacturer. It's an easy start on the hunt for the right tire. Good Luck |

The metric conversion between inches and millimeters:
1 inch =25.4 millimetres (a little English lingo for those AC fans out there)I usually just divide by 25,or multiply by 4,and move the decimal point two places to the left. EXAMPLE:325.0x4=1300.0 Move the decimal point two places to the left,and you have 13.00 inches approximately. If you choose to divide by 25,you also get 13 inches. An easy way to remember the "25" rule: Most tire heights for the Cobra are in 25 inch(+or-) range. |

I have Yokohama AVS S/T 295/50R and 245/60r15 T rated tires. Excellent tires for all around driving. Great Rain tire! Fun in the canyons and no road noise. I had TA's before and don't miss them. Good price on the also. Made in USA.
