Take Action Now

All,

I just received an e-mail that notified me that the Democrats in CA are trying to take another run at passing a bill that will hurt all who are involve in the performance automotive and classic car hobby. This will not only affect people who own performance cars but people that work in the automotive industry. If this Bill go through I firmly believe hundreds if not thousands of jobs will be lost. With California in a financial crisis, this is the worst time to attempt to pass a law such as this. I urge all of you to write a letter to your local and state representatives and urge them not to pass this law. Please read the note below and take action

Hi Everyone I just got this from the SEMA Office

your addressess book.
Another Bill that we need to stop

URGENT LEGISLATIVE ALERT - Legislation to Repeal Old Car Emissions
Exemption Reintroduced in California State Assembly.

As predicted, legislation has been reintroduced in the California Assembly
to repeal the state's current rolling emissions test exemption for
vehicles 30 years old and older. A.B. 2683 repeals the current
pro-hobbyist exemption and replaces it with a provision requiring the
permanent testing of all pre-1976 vehicles. This year, the bill
was introduced by California State Assemblywoman Sally Lieber (D-District 22).

We Urge You to Contact Assemblywoman Lieber and Your Own State Assembly
Member Immediately to Oppose A.B. 2683
Assemblywoman Lieber can be reached by e-mail at
Assemblywoman.Lieber@assembly.ca.gov

Assembly's general information line at 916/445-4311.

It never ends!
They are $35,000,000,000 in the hole and they have time for this bull$hit?

They shouldn't have a minute to spend on any other matter but the state's deficit, illegals, gay marriage. Not trying to make it impossible to drive a lousy Cobra in this state.
God, what are these people thinking?

Turk,

That's the problem; they're not (thinking).

California Cobra owners and voters-
It's time to e-mail Sally Lieber a note 'splaining a few things about her improper focus in this time of her state's economic crisis. In effect, she is descriminating against a very large base of tax payers who happen to own these cars and support her tax stae's "income" buying parts, service, gas tax, etc.
Wonder if she ever had a job in the private sector? Just my .02:CRY:

I think you need to re-read the passage:

"44011. (a) All motor vehicles powered by internal combustion
engines that are registered within an area designated for program coverage shall be required biennially to obtain a certificate of compliance or noncompliance, except for all of the following:
(1)
(2)
(3) Any motor vehicle manufactured prior to the 1976 model-year."

I still think the language is vague in another section, but I agree that our largely democratic based House and Senate had better spend our taxpayers money on more important issues that COST the state money versus ones that generate commerce and taxes. So many of these politicians give the state such a bad wrap because THEY ARE IDIOTS.

Here's a list if anyone else wants to go to the effort to make sure more than one representative hears from us. I have listed many of state Demo's from the house and several of the senators from both sides.

Feel free to email them all.

Maybe if enough people email all of these it will come up in a conversation somewhere and do some good.

these are all hot linked so all you have to do is create a letter and click on them one at a time and cut and paste then send.

Can they read?

One of these days when I have nothing better to do, and have ran out of places to drive to, I am going to organize a Million Polluter March into Sacramento.

Bikers have managed to shut down San Francisco on a regular basis with their Critical Mass.

One way to get the attention of the politicians is to get the attention of the media. Few thousand cars converging to State Capitol would do it. It takes some organizational resources , I lack at this time.
ENOUGH!!

Power in numbers when it comes to car people in CA

One reason I'm still in California is the passion for cars that people have here, and a few of the remaining backroads.

If this type of (over-recycled) legislation passes, or in the future, it might just be the final straw for even more of us to bail out on California all together.

This would not be an effective idea for keeping people or jobs in California.
