Original CSX for a Ferrari ?
 

Some time back, a original 427 roadster was discovered in a ''freind's'' garage..... The owner thought he might trade it for a Ferrari.... Is that freind, or owner still out there ?? If so I would appreciate a lead, or contact. Thanks.

There have been many friends, many barn-finds, many originals talked about on this sight. I never heard of a single one turning out to be true. Good luck !

I believe I saw this fellow at the airport boarding "When Pigs Can Fly" Airways.

If a Cobra hasn't been seen for 40 years, it doesn't exist, most are accounted for.

Even the most desired Dayona, CSX2287 had been missing for many years, but hard core enthusiasts knew where it was, they just couldn't get to it.

Like they say, there are Ferraris and then there are Ferraris. Given the current state of the sports car collector market, I can think of damn few "production" Ferraris that would be a fair trade for even a run-of-the-mill, original Cobra. As for undiscovered cars, I'll join the skeptics. Given all the people who are putting in untold hours trying to re-create deceased Cobras through paperwork and archaeology, it's VERY hard to believe that there are still "barn" cars to be found.

At the Bloomington Gold show this year there was an extremly rare barn find. We hauled a 1964 fuelie roadster to the show and parked right next to us for judging was a 1963 ZO6 Corvette. Not only was this car one of two roadsters ever made, it was an original 7,100 mile car. There were 186 ZO6 coupes made, also valuable cars.
This car was ordered by a GM employee at a discounted rate. He drove it for less than one year and accumulated 17 tickets. By 1964 he put it in a barn (a real barn in Michigan, there are lots and lots of pictures) and left it there covered with blankets. Near death last year, he sold the car to the person that brought this car to Bloomington. He cleaned it up and got it running, certainly more complicated than it sounds in my short write up.
I can not tell you how rare and valuable this "barn find" is. A ZO6 Corvette was a full race Corvette, this is one of two roadsters with all the paperwork and in amazing original condition for being stored in a barn. It was black with saddle interior and a black hardtop. There was quite a gathering when the hardtop was removed and the beautiful white soft top was put up for the first time in the cars life. The original owner told him he had never removed the hard top, hence the soft top was stored under the deck lid when he bought the car new. It creaked a bit, but was in amazing condition with no cracks or signs of age. The judges had a field day looking at all the things that make an original soft top different from a reproduction. The estimated value of this car is said to be over $500,000.
Don't give up. There is also a post on the Yenko site discussing the possible finding of the prototype ZL1 Camaro.
