Superformance #117 w/NOS 427 Sideoiler
 

All Black-no stripes. Built in 98, engine and car completed spring of 99. 8000 miles. Engine is an NOS C7AE-A Sideoiler (block was thermal cleaned, platehoned and alignhoned-true decked to 90 degrees & rotating assembly was balanced). Steel crank (nitrated and micropolished) w/Lemans rods, Clevite bearings, ARP bolts and Venolia 10.25 to 1 pistons (runs on pump fuel). Ported Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads (2.25 intake & 1.75 exhaust valves). Competition Cams solid roller camshaft w/.605 lift and .248 duration @.050. Speed Pro adjustable rocker arms. Edelbrock Performer RPM intake w/Barry Grant 850 Demon carb. Polished turkey pan w/2 air cleaners-Stellings and Hellings and black hi-flow K&N. Polished Cobra 427 valve covers. MSD 6AL w/Ford Duraspark distributor. Cobra oil pan. Lakewood blowproof bellhousing w/McLeod clutch and Tremec TKO 5-speed.

Have extensive build sheets, dyno sheets and cyl. head airflow data on all engine work done at Competition Porting Service in Ohio from original engineer owner. Engine made 477 HP at 6000 rpms and 481 ft/lbs. torque at 4500 rpms. Also have 3 ring binder from original owner w/all receipts, articles etc.
Car is fully sorted (I am a Service Manager at a Ford dealer), runs very strong and cool. Sits, looks and sounds very authentic. Exterior and interior are as new (some rock chips from the parking lights down to the oil cooler mouth). Fanatical owner-one hour of cleaning for every two hours of driving. In rain once then cleaned undercarriage immediately. Only selling to purchase early 66 GT-350 which will be no where near as much fun as this car is.
You will not be disappointed. $54,000.

Get the "Less fun" GT350 now while you can afford it! you will not be disappointed when it comes time to sell it in a few years compared to this Superformance!! As much as I want a COBRA, I have come to the realization that REAL 60's Shelby products are not only Unique and RARE, but terrific investments. That is why I am holding on to my GT500 and will aquire a replica or 4000 series one way or another. they will always be affordable. GT350's and 500's will not!

Do you know what the current bore is on the block or how much it's been overbored?

Cool car - I think you've got the magic mix: SPF with a 427 side-oiler.

Engine is a standard bore C7AE-A NOS block.

Your documents have errors...
 

Doug,

A few errors with your documents forwarded about your engine.

First of all, what you forwarded and are claiming as "dyno sheets" (ie. engine made 477 hp.....etc.) is simply DESKTOP DYNO. MY DYNO SHEET - EXAMPLE

Secondly, you state the block is standard bore BUT the engine has seen two rebuilds in a short life span with neither of the pistons manufacturers stated building custom sized pistons - at least for rock bottom prices which your sheets suggest! The crank was turned (if it wasn't there would be no reason to nitrate it) but the pistons were also replaced - this doesn't add up. Either way, there is VERY LITTLE CHANCE that your engine is Standard Bore like you state.

Thirdly, you don't have airflow data on your heads, once again, what you provide is simply data imputed into desktopdyno which is why your "paperwork" show the pages in succession from 1-5.

Fourthly, the build sheet you supplied as such is not even remotely close to that - it's simply a hand written breakdown of some work that was done. Here is a link to what a build sheet looks like MY BUILDSHEET

The original (standard bore) block was de-tuned (compression drop) after it's initial 1000 miles for the street. I do apologize and stand corrected the second build had a .017 overbore. The documentation on the car is from it's initial build from the original owner. The HP numbers are flywheel measured numbers and were never represented as anything else. The car is a terrific piece and if anyone has a friend in Denver, they can see it for themselves or ask a Mile High Cobra Club member about the car.

Milehigh - generally I do but when YOU gave the numbers and sheets to "back" the claims THEY WERE simply Dyno2000 computer software generated data - along with your flow numbers.

Most folks on this site I'm sure are aware of the HP numbers a well built FE make.

Here is what I'm talking about. Regarding HP claims your engine and power are probably fine. To be honest I communicated to my friend that I found it odd to be so low - but that's me. I'm glad you weren't trying to mislead anyone and you REALLY thought this was an acutal dyno sheet w/ an engine that ran to 10,000+ rpm. Have a great weekend!

you state that spf #117 was "built" in 1998, my spf #156 was BUILT in 3rd qtr 1996. thus, 117 was built PRIOR to that date. I sent you a private email questioning you about that , but never got a response. it might not make a lot of difference to some folks, but to some others it might. better check you spf build dates from the South African factory records. perhaps 117 was built prior to 1998 ( prior to 3 qtr 1996) and not sold and registered new unitl 1998 ? just a thought, not uncommon to have happened that way, as my 156 was built in 96 and not sold new til `1998. might as well have the records accurate. eh ?

The MSO I have from Superformance states the car was completed as a roller in 1997. Engine installation and sale to original owner was in spring of 1998.
