335/35/17 Tires
Could someone tell me which tire company's make 335/35/17 tires? What Co. do you like & why? Perhaps wheels as well? Thanks for your time, Chas:cool:

I have the same on the JBL's rear. You have a choice, Dunlop 8000 or Mich Pilot sports. That's it for DOT tires. I went with Dunlops for two reasons: better in dry than Mich [Mich is better in wet, who cares]and 20% cheaper. Tire Rack could have sold me either but recommended the Dunlops as well. Haven't had the pleasure driving on them yet that happens friday when the car arrives.

The "search by size" function on www.tirerack.com is my favorite place for researching tire sizes, availability and costs.

Thanks fellas, Looks like the tire rack is the only game in town. Chas

Have Team III wheels in 17". Great wheel, good price ($300 apiece), 8", 9 1/2", and 11" widths, any backspacing. Don't know why they don't advertize here. Got to their site through cobracountry.
Good selection of high performance tires priced right at vulcantire.com. I sprung for the Falken FK451's, and love 'em. Traction rated "AA". Very sticky dry & wet. 16k miles, and almost no wear! ~ $100 apiece. |

Chas,
Tell me about your Cutting Edge Cobra. Are you building it or is it done. I saw a rolling chassis with body recently and was really impressed. I mean wow. I would like to know more about it. Thanks, John |
Hi John, I have not recieved my kit yet. I expect to recieve it in a week or two. I just spoke to Jim (one of the company owners) today. He said my frame is going to the powder coaters tomorrow, All the other parts are ready. Thay will not ship incomplete kits. I ordered the frame powder coated a special color so it might take a little longer than usual. I'm still gathering parts but Jim has been a big help in that also. as well as the rest of the crew at CER. These guys are a real pleasure to deal with. You can go to there shop anytime you like & it's never a proublem. I have spoken to Jim & the other guys on several occasions after hours & thay never complained, Always willing to help. I think my biggest fear is how to keep them out of my garage after I start the build. Thay are really that willing to help! As for there product, I think it speaks for it's self. Like you said, you saw one of there rolling chassis and are really impressed. Quite on the "Cutting Edge". I'll be more than happy to let you know when I get my kit home & you are more than welcome to come over & CHECK IT OUT!!!. Just let me know how to contact you.I noticed you live in Napa & I'm in Pacifica so it's not to far. As for anyone else, Let me know. You are welcome too! Chas:cool:

I wanted 335/35's at first but the BF Goodrich KD's are available in 315/35 so that's what I went with. I wanted that specific tire more than an exact size.

tire choice
I might be to late for your purchase, but the Ntto 555R tires come in your side and are less expensive with better performance reviews. The rears are $185 which I believ is very reasonable. If it is not to late, try www.discounttiredirect.com

Thanks everyone ! How about the Kumho V700's Anyone try them?
|
Kumhos are a race tire with a race compound. If you think the Dunlops will have a short life, the Kumhos will die as infants (especially if you shave them as recommended). Nittos don't come in 335, but Pirelli P-Zeros and Goodyear Eagles come in 335
