Whom to buy from?

I'm interested in buying my first cobra. If you were going to buy a new cobra, fully assembled, ready to drive, whom would you buy your car from? Thanks in advance for your help. Great site with many fabulous cars.

Go see Olthoff Racing in Mt Ulla NC. They're a Superformance dealer, and they might be close enough to you to be your mech support!
If your budget won't handle an SPF, I would try BDR as an alternative. Many happy owners of both makes on this forum.
Good Luck with your hunt. Finding it is half the fun!!!

JBBright 01-23-2005 11:11 AM

What is an SPF and what is a BDR?

Sorry, I'm more than a novice I guess. Thanks for your help.

The answer to your question depends on how much you can afford to spend. What is your budget for the car???

You should get familar with every kit or replica manufacture out there . This will give you some idea of the different kinds . You should by a book like ' the complete guide to cobra replicas on cobra country web site . Then turn to the ERA section , then order one . :D

Consider a used snake. Most of them are treated like gold. Take a look at www.cobracountry.com . It's winter and prices are down.

I to have just taken the plunge. Doing Research I found a very reputable company in Missouri by the name of B and B manufacturing. Great personal touch. Bryan and Berry are the owners. They have a website full of customers. Can provide you with references. They even built the 2 cars used in teh show cobra. The other manufacturer, of which we selected was backdraft racing (BDR) as known on this forum. Reg and Frank Dodd owners. Great source on info, good website and will work with you on options and pricing. I found that BDR has a nice base package that includes many of the others options. Either company I would have to give an 8 out 10.

How many do you plan on buying???????

JBBright 01-24-2005 12:28 PM

My apologies. I should have said that I'm looking to by my initial Cobra. One will probably do me unless I get...bit!

JB,
Lots of things to consider, originality, smallblock/bigblock, waiting time (if purchased new), and of course price per value or cost point.

What are you planning on doing with the car?
Shows........sunny Sunday drives, rally events, etc.

How accurate of a replica do you want?.....need?

Every price range imaginable, and then some. Be carefull!! There are a lot of homebuilt projects disguised as turnkey autos.
Regards,
Bret.

Whitby Motorcars in Greensboro 336 389 0904, is a Factory Five Rep. and does a great job of building the Factory Five cars to order. Give them a call if this is what you're in the market for. Local guys too! I don't know if Unique builds complete cars, but if you don't mind going to Alabama, give them a call. Really high quality.

Sorry about that. My budget is....

somewhere between $35M-$45M. Just want a powerful car that looks great for 10-20 miles a week of leisure driving. Thanks again for your interest.

mrmustang 01-24-2005 02:53 PM

In that price range, for a big block powered car, you should be looking at the following (in no particular order):

ERA
Contemporary
Superformance

Plenty of really nice examples of each of those in that price range. You just have to pick which one you want to spend your money on...........

Has anyone dealt with Hurricane Motorsports, they seem to have a nice kit at a good price. Levy Racing FFive is only 20 miles from home but went there and did not get the answers I needed. Also do like Backdraft. Checked also with Superformance, a little to pricey for me. Still stuck on Hurricane, any pros and cons would be very appreciated.
