Nice looking car Bill. I saw one of the original coupes at Goodwood last year and it was getting trounced by the Cobras.....both the roasters and the Daytona coupes.

Speak with the guys from Club Cranky, as "Tim" (owner of the GS) has been a long standing member...This car will run right up there with Prof. Cranky and his amazing Contemporary road race prepped car.........

A couple of years ago, there was a thread about Grand Sports on the Corvette forum. I commented that the wheels look just like those found the Cobra, to which a bunch of people posted that I was wrong.
Well, the wheels on this replica look like Cobra wheels, and the linked page shows PS Eng wheels with road race tires. So, did the Grand Sport run with Cobra wheels or not? Just curious... BTW, beautiful car. Thanks, Randy R... |
Hey Bill,
I bet Dr. Mike over in Cumberland, MD would like that car. He has a HUGE collection of Corvettes and would love to have something like this to autocross. |
relaxinrob that gsport you saw at goodwood last year was a replica from a guy in germany. the previous year, collier brought his gsport driven by richard atwood, and had a little front end crunch. randy, i have some original gsport wheels. they are hgalibrands also, and look just like the cobra halibrands, but have a diff offset, and also have stems hanging from the rim for weights - that's the easiest way to tell them apart.

Correct me if I am wrong Larry, but the Grand Sport wheels are 5 pin drive and the Cobra wheels are 6 pin.
|
PS makes the correct Grand Sport wheel. It looks somewhat like a Cobra FIA wheel, but with only 5 spokes.

As owner of DDGS032 I can tell you that the cars built after #30 are truly better handling cars. This is car #66 and the bump steer was corrected by Dean at this point. These cars have go kart like handling and braking. They are a blast to drive. There are very few around as D & D went out of business.

i will post photos of the wheels next week

Larry,
Are you going to Goodwood this September? |
Posts in the For Sale forums should be limited to specific questions about the item for sale, directed to the seller.
Interesting sub-topics that spawn from a listing like this are good...but should be pursued on new thread. This is in fairness to the seller, who often has auto-notify turned on for the For Sale thread...and may be getting an e-mail for every response posted here. Thanks Ron ClubCobra Moderator |
