Bob,
Your car looks terrific. Please forgive me if you have covered this before, but could you please provide a quick overview to the mods you had to make to fit in your car? In every car I've tried, I end up looking out over the top of the windshield. Thanks, Mark |
Mark,
Not a problem, as long as someone can benefit by what I've found. The biggest problem is with the wasted space behind the seat. I found that sitting in a Cobra without any seat at all created quite alot of room, so the attention went into getting me into a seat that basically has me sitting on the floor and all the way back against the rear wall of the body. Nobody said it was real comfortable, but at least I'm in it. My seat is a racing type bucket seat with alot of padding on the sides, and only 1/4" on the back and the bottom. I also cut out a small half-moon notch in the bottom of the dash where my legs cross under it for extra room. Most people don't even notice it. Also, a smaller steering wheel, a dropped footbox, and the pedals as far forward as possible. I had to shave the sides of all of the pedals for extra clearance because of the width of my feet. It's tight, but manageable. Someone 6'6"-6'8" tall could easily fit into a car with just the seat mods alone, then make additional changes only if they were taller. I sat in an FFR once without a seat, and it was very similar to mine, so I would assume that most are the same. Fortunately, I am not on the portly side, as this would cause other problems, although I do have a 40 " waist. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions. |
Surgical Correction?
Bob,
We offered to "surgically correct" all of your anatomical variants when you last visited.:D A Podiatric dream if there ever was one! |
Thanks Bob - That's a big (no pun intended) help!

Robert, Your car looks great!!! That's what im going to build
as soon as I sell my car. So people, let's make a deal... |
The car has not sold...
|
Randy....
I can't believe you have not sold that beautiful car. Is there anything I or other AZ club members can do to help you out? Mike |
Mike, Thanks for asking but i don't know. I havn't had the right person come along. He is out there and he will be getting a great car.
The reason i'm selling is to build a 289 FIA from Unique. I really like their cars and not a lot of 289 cars are in town. thanks Randy. p.s. We need to schedule a night at scottsdale. |
Yes,
A agree we need to schedule a night at the PAV. Just been waiting for it to cool off.....If it ever will. Not sure about triple digits going into Oct. Mike |
Yes, The car is still for sale...

I live in Norway and consider bying an AC Cobra.
There are not many Cobras in Norway which means I will have to by one abroad. When bying, say a car, outside Norway, the Norwegian authorities are trying to get their share and demand an import fee for taking the car into Norway. In this case, the fee will be around $40.000 US, which means the price doubles. The only exception is if the car is classified as a vintage car, meaning either registred first time before 1971 or the car is a 1971 model or older. This is essential to me since no import fees are paid for vintage cars. In many advertisments, I see the terms registred, tiled and model. How do this relate to the model of the car and date of first registration ? Is it possible to get a copy of the registration papers and possibly other dokuments to make it easier for me to convince Norwegian authorities that this is a vintage car. I would realy appreciate if you could send this to me either by fax, email or post. If so, please answer with name and address and I will if nescessary refound your expences. If the Norwegian authorities (after an off the record enquiry) approves of the documents, your car is one of the best prospects I have found, and I might by it. Hey Randy.....
Doth my eyes deceive me????
You too, are a 289 convert???? Did you hear that Big Bob Evans?????? We are growing in number. Watch out all you FE guys....especially FEZ!!!! Good Luck selling the car. |
The car is still for sale...
|
Randy,
I'm in Phx and would like to see the car. Have you had any offers yet? When can I see it and where are you located? Rick (602) 284-5832 rjmedsurg@cox.net |
Want to let everyone know I sold my cobra this weekend. The
person who bought it is very knowledgeable of cobras and it's going to a good home. Randy |
Congrats, Randy.
I took awhile but sounds like the right guy got a great car. Now, is the FIA next? Mike |
I admit it, I bought it!
Thanks for the kind words Randy. I am very anxious to get the car home. But I will be able to keep myself busy over the next month fixing up the garage so the Cobra will have a nice room! (wifes car gets to sit outside!)
For those of you who don't know, I am in Columbus Ohio. My father and I are going to fly down and drive it back! Great way to break in the engine. Like in the recent Road&Track article, cross country in a Cobra. The drive will be long, tiring, hot, cold, wet and we will both probably need a chiropractor. BUT WE ARE GREATLY LOOKING FORWARD TO EVER MINUTE. I to am surprised it took so long to sell. But I am happy that it did. Between the down turn in the economy and 911, I am sure that would explain it. |
Rdorman,
When are you coming down to take posession of your new pride and Joy? Great choice by the way. Also, will you be at DVFS II? Mike |
To Mike
Thanks Mike. I am very excited. I am coming back down some time around 3/7 to pick up the car. With Randys help (read he is organizing the whole thing, thanks Randy!) I am having a soft made and we will install a heater/defroster unit from Vintage Air.
It is cold up here! For as many people that where cold down there last Saturday night and for the price of a heater, I am suprised that more folks don't install them. Of course for about 250 times the price of a heater you could have a hard top and A/C! |
