I want to add to this conversation although it does not apply to the OP. A small business that does powder coating rented a 3000 sf industrial space from us in Shasta County. Moved his equipment in and did some tenant improvement work to the space. Was told he needed a special use permit in order to bring a gas line into the space for his oven. The county and AQMD wanted over $4,000 in fees and would not be able to approve the permit for at least 4 months. They also wanted to inspect the other tenants for permits. That pretty much killed his operation in our building. We had to let him walk.

Not Surprised - we have had similar problems pop up.

Spoke to a very nice lady from C.A.R.B. this PM.

We spoke for about 20 mins, and we clarified several technical points.

- she is going to go try to pull a copy of the Cease and Desist action and hopefully we will get a chance to review it with them.

--after all it is a public agency, engaging in a public action against a public company, there is no expectation of privacy and no individuals are named, with the exception of the CAL AIR Board personnel which they are all out in the open as agents of the state.

More news as it happens.

Steve

When you get a copy of that C&D, send it to me via PM unless you want to publish it here.

Here's another one,
CA is messing with Huy Fong Foods (Sriracha).
Huy Fong Foods to start making Sriracha in Texas? - latimes.com
Soon Huy Fong Foods will be leaving for TX!
CA wants to be a hospitality and tourism state.

An excerpt from an email from someone within "the agency":

"hey, you wanted that high pollutin’ race/classic car. If I had a complaint line to give you, I would send it to you ASAP!! J Don’t feel special, everybody is on their radar, big trucks, old cars, you name it! In the name of clean air! J"

RodKnock 01-08-2014 12:14 PM

Personally, I think we should start two new threads.

First, one thread listing all the CA residents leaving the state.

Second, one thread listing all the CA businesses leaving the state.

Definitely, don't list anyone coming into the state. We wouldn't want any positive news. Right!

Then, everyone on ClubCobra from all over the country can call CA "Kalifornia" and we can state emphatically that the CA government are a bunch of Communists.

Holy Cow!

Let's see how Steve (PANAVIA) solves his customer's problem. I'm willing to bet there's a solution and Steve will find it, because that's the kind of guy he is. ;)

RodKnock 01-08-2014 12:19 PM

And I forgot.

Please remember to call the residents and businesses in the States of Washington and Colorado a bunch of potheads.

kevins2 01-08-2014 12:30 PM

California is beautiful and has some of the best weather anywhere so people will continue to flock there until other factors balance out the desirability. Whether it's regulation, high cost of living, over-population (and traffic), etc. It's inevitable and happens in many other places that are desirable places to live.

You're welcome. And that is exactly why I'm glad that how awesome it is here in rural Pennsylvania is a well-kept secret

Bernica 01-08-2014 01:33 PM

Yep, love PA. Pitt is a great town and great folks! A hidden gem. Good deer hunting there too, which is another whole issue here in CA.

Well, at least you can still find a good basketball game to watch in North Korea.

So they got that goin' for it, which is nice.

No news today on the CARB front - will publish here and on our website when we get anything.

On our customers car, which is NOT subject to pollution control , we are having a motor built by our friend Tom Lucas at FESpecialties -

However we (panavia ) are still fighting the crate motor fight !

I wanted to thank you all for the PMs phone calls Facebook messages of support !

Roll the tanks , no sleep till Berlin !

Steve.

Apparently Nothing New for C.A.R.B.

Here is an old thread on a different forum from 2007 with a similar letter being issued. Did not get a chance to read it all the way through.

GlamisDunes.com > Cease And Desist Letter For Turnkey Car Manufacturers

PANAVIA 01-13-2014 05:18 PM

Greetings - recent updates;

C.A.R.B. is being pleasant, but at the same time denying any access to any copies of any letters they have sent to any automotive firm on this issue.

therefore, I have reviewed with my council., and we have made the determination that we will begin by filing an information request and see where that leads.

If that does not work ; we may have to pursue them in court to get them to divulge what they are doing to harm the California Citizenry when it comes to classic cars.

More News as it happens.

Steve

Just a thought, but do you think SEMA might be able to twist some arms in Sacramento in order to acquire this secret letter? I would think that SEMA would be really upset with this "rule" and how it is being enforced...

If you had kids and had seen the entire movie, you would know that it was not an acorn that hit Chicken Little on the head, and indeed a "piece of the sky" shaped like a stop sign with a cloud on it had fallen on Chicken Little's head.

So I guess your analogy is to say even though there is a real problem, let's try to find a way to calm the general public so that they don't worry themselves? ;)
