Jag rear suspension
O.k one more question. How much power can a Jag rear end take ? I really don't like the idea of having a suspension with hard to find and expensive parts. I do plan on doing some drag racing and maybe some autocrossing with the car.:confused:

I autocross extensively with mine--hard. Not one problem and the handling is sublime. I'm not sure that's the way to go if you want to drag race it regularly. It's not just a matter of strength--you can beef up Jags--it's more a question of if it's the best for getting the power down. But for autocross and any open track use, an indep. rear is hard to beat. Another alternative that's being used is the indep. T-Bird rear (last Turbo Cpe version). Maybe some other folks will weigh in on them for you.

ron used the 1.876" dia input/pinion shaft in all his cobras in lieu of the 1.423" dia ones. if this is what you have the torque range on input is between 360 to 410 lbs torque when converted from the uk id charts. MAINTAIN the non sulphur rear lube as recommended and you should be fine, even with 10" street/slicks. |
I noticed this website, maybe someone can make use of this setup. Although my West Coast cobra will have the custom straight axle 9 inch Ford rear, this looks like a great alternative for any cobra that it can fit.
