I am shopping the different manufacturers and I like what I see from Unique. What I need from all of you is to share your experience with Unique.

Please let me know your complete experience with them. Include any performance data, especially handling and braking, pricing and resale, that you have.

Let me save you some time and trouble. I became interested in owning a Cobra replica in November of 1991 when my December issue of Car & Driver arrived in the mail (which I still read on occasion). I've been studying and researching the replica market ever since.

As you can see from my bio, I do not yet have a replica, but I have decided on who I will buy one from: Unique. Here's a detailed account of my personal experience with them...

In July of 2001, during a week of much-needed vacation, my wife and I decided to make a surprise visit to the Unique factory in Gadsden, AL. We lived in north GA at the time, so it was only a couple of hours away. Their website and literature had always encouraged interested individuals to just drop on in... so we did just that. We drove to Gadsden and THEN made a quick phone call to get the final directions to their place (when I say "surprise visit," I mean it).

Now bear in mind that my wife and I were a very-young-looking 28 & 29 respectively at the time and I'm sure we're a great deal younger than the average replica buyer. Hell, I get a hard time just trying to get information about a Mustang from the car dealer down the road :rolleyes: . My wife and I were both worried about how we would be treated.

Immediately upon meeting Alan Weaver, I explained that I was "a few years" from making a purchase. This would have sent the local Mustang salesman into the "give them a brochure and let them go" mode. But did this change Alan's attitude? Nope.

Alan took several hours from his schedule that day to walk us around his building and explain everything. Every question was answered, bar none. I took numerous photos and was allowed to crawl around, in, under , and over several cars that were being manufactured. I had also come prepared with a detailed list of pointed questions (about 40 of them, if memory serves). Alan and I sat down in his office and went through the questions, one by one. I received answers for all of them. In the meantime, my wife had lost interest in my questions and was looking through a photo album with Jean. There was no pressure at all and we were taken very seriously. The Weavers treated us like family.

I took his list of references and contacted all of them. I even visited some of them personally. Every car I saw was of the highest quality. And everyone had the same thing to say about the Weavers: "They're the nicest folks you're ever gonna meet."

Since that time, I have seen even more of their cars and have talked to dozens of owners. I have made my decision.

That's my 4 cents.

went to one of their open houses a few years ago, and you were literally treated like family. i understand they were like a forum on the assembly of their/your cobra before it was made popular by the factory five bunch.

Keith's comments are typical of what people experience with Unique. Sonny's comments about being treated like family is right on. All the Unique owners ARE a family, we have been adopted by Momma Jean. We travel with the "family" to various events dring the year and we have a great time together. We spent Thanksgiving week with them in Daytona this year. What a fantastic group of people!

The cars are just as good as the people too. I defy anyone to find a better quality product. The first thing many people (other cobra owners) say to me when I give them a ride is; "man, I;m surprised how good and smooth the ride is". Then we stand on the loud pedal and put it through some turns and it's "oh my God! This thing screams."

I have won two show trophies, one autocross trophy, and had it on two road courses in 1 1/2 years. I have driven mine just over 5,000 miles - rain & shine, no garage machine here! My car is a turnkey and the detail work is fabulous.

Could try to restate Keith's explanation of his "UNIQUE" experience, no pun intended:LOL:, but the meaning would still be the same! My Unique FIA, powered by a Southern Automotive 351W, is as good as it gets...the Weavers are an absolute pleasure to deal with, and they make a quality product, at a fair price. Nothing else to say...

I am in the mid sages of a Unique build right now and I've gotta tell you that EVERYTHING fits as designed. No engineering or re-engineering. The quality is everything that you would expect from a premium replica manufacturer. Powdercoated frame is flawless, Wilwood brake components up front and JAG rear suspension are first rate.
The Weavers have delivered as promised and remain as enthusiastic after the sale as before. Empressive.

I agree with all of the people above me. I have been looking for a good year and made a visit with the Weavers last week.I have been to 2 cobrafests one in 94 and 01. I gave other companies research and consideration but I always seem to end back looking @ Unique cars. There dose not seem to be anyone that I have spoke with that has anything negative to say about their products. If you look at other replicas new and used you will see that Unique is offers a great value against like cars.
