AFI Cobra? Feedback
Does anyone else out there have an AFI Cobra? I was wondering what quality they are? Any feedback?
I am looking @ buying my first replica and have a limited amount $$$$ (don't wanna spend more than 30K, on this one at least).... I really appreciate any feedback. thanks, steve |
Who is AFI? never heard of 'em.
|
American Fiberbodies International...
They are listed out of Xenio, Ohio.... I can find listings for their Diablo, Ferrari replicas but nothing on a cobra. Also can't find a website.... this car kinda scares, I am afraid of notting being able to get parts for it.... |
I did a search on Google and found a website with one for sale, but that's it. I doubt they have a website.
Are you looking to build or buy a completed car? I'm buying a complete turnkey from Carcepts near Salem, Oregon, for $26k. It will have a 302 EFI w/108,000 miles on it, rebuilt trans, and other used parts such as fuel tank, rear end, and radiator. You can get all the other details from the website if you're interested. I have many additional components beyond their standard turnkey that I can also give you info on if you're interested. You can get a newly built FFR (with similar used components) for under $30k from Levy Racing. You can build a few others yourself for well under $30k. There are probably a lot of alternatives in the used Cobra market too, but I don't have experience with that. |
Heck, just buy my Classic Roadster built by DV and cut to the chase. 1400 miles and recently worked over to make sure it's perfect by DV. $31.9,,,,but for you, my friend, $31.8. LOL

Steve,
With $30K you should be able to buy one heck of a car... Look at the used market... So many deals out there right now... You're definitely a player with that much to spend... |
This is from Curt Scott's Consumer Watch:
"American Fiberbodies (at one time advertised Countach replicas in the kit car magazines; they seem to have disappeared entirely, and the old phone number is now answered at a residence. Ohio)" |
Well - I have backed away from that car, cause no one seems to no anything about it..... I am actually very close to buying a partially built classic roadsters kit up in northern cali.....
I am sweating hopeing that i can get it... it needs some work, but will be fun to complete..... all new parts (trans(tko), rear(8.8), front end) rebuilt 351w all pieces of the kit included. is running 14.5k right now so keep your fingers crossed for me. |
I too agree casaleenie, with that kind of Money, you should be able to buy a very NICE low mileage used one and a Trailer too. And with the Money left over take your Wife out on the Town to Celebrate your new Toy.
