Here is the return letter that I received

I was actually interested in a 1970 Chevelle 454 that he had advertised. It was not until I saw the ad for the Cobra that I realized what was going on. Here is his response to my inquiry about the Chevelle. (which is probably the same response for the Cobra):

Hello and thank you for contacting me
I will tell you a few words about the car.
First of all the car is fully restored and looks just like in the pictures. It is in imaculate condition and has no scratch on and hasn't been involved in any accident.
The motor runs very well. This is a classic car that has a lot of the original parts and the tires are almost new.The title is clear ,it is not a salvage one.
The car belongs to my grandfather. He is very old and can't take care of it anymore. He put me to sell the car.I have legal document by wich I can transfer the title to your name.
The car is now in England as my grandfather lives here.He loves this kind of cars and he collected and restored them. The car is mostly garage kept and rarely used.
Because I can't carry all his things back home I am selling them.
I am willing to sell it and ship it to any of the EU countries or to US.I will not ship to any African,Asian or Eastern European countries.I know that the price is low but I have no use for the car and I want to get back home as soon as i sell it.
I want to sell the car asap so I am willing to pay 25% of the shipping fees nomatter of the location.
I require a deposit of 3000USD.The money is a reservation for the car.First one who makes the deposit will be the buyer.I need the deposit to be sure that you want the car and in order to proceed with shipping and all the aditional export taxes.
I wait your further questions and i will provide any infos you need.
Thank you
Regards

CSX 3210 owner

Is the owner of CSX 3210 reading this forum???? They might me interested in knowing that someone is trying to sell their car. Is this even a Shelby American?

Does anyone recognize this car?

Those are, in fact, pictures of CSX3210.

They are the pictures that were part of the car's legitimate listing on eBay last November.

The text of that e-mail message is a "boiler-plate" copy of all the responses from most of the current bogus listings on eBay.

Per the registry which was published in 1997 and therefore doesn't have the latest on this car, It belonged to a Larry S. Thomas in Indiana. He was the 11th owner at that time. The color at that time had been changed from guardsman blue to dark blue. No hood scoop from SAI. Later changes show a roll bar added, a hood scoop, side exhaust, wider rims, rear fenders enlarged, and a competition fuel cap added.

As stated this is from the 1997 registry and this car could have changed owners many times since then. But that price alone makes me wonder. Just the body and chassis with the CSX number is worth more than that.

Ron

Heck I'd pay 3 times that and more JUST for the body and chassis. Classic fraud case here, and like Ron said, "boiler plate copy of the typical story" concerning this car.

On April 21st I sent them an e-mail concerning this car being a fraud. On May 1st I received this reply. E-Bay is MUCH quicker at investigating and shutting down fraud auctions.

"In response:

so,a little more info . mcmanus[sp?] ford was there in '66.
they in turn acquired csx3210 from providence,r.i.-----
where there was a licensed dealer---tasca ford---john healy[sp?]
ran the "mystery 9" mustang out of there at that time [a
national record holding drag car]
i took the cobra to epping,n.h. dragway and won a number
of trophies w/ it,until the national record holding cobra out of
harr ford started to race there ---11.02 quarter mile record in '66.
next i took the car to parsons college--fairfield,iowa.
traded the car to the owner of "four wheels inc" in ames, iowa
for a 68 vette.
pretty much end of story 'til a guy called me a couple of
years ago for some history on the car---said it had been in
europe for awhile.....eric weissberg [of "dueling banjos" fame
had the car for a time......the guy in indiana said that he made
sc mods to the car and intended to race it in vintage events.
i came across pictures of the 'ol snake when i typed csx3210
on google this a.m.----motorcities.com...............key it in and you
too can see the pics...........i know nothing of the car being on
any other site .....or a 16k price...........the car i saw looks like
the real thing.

cordially,
steve grant

Although we had Wilmington Ford , Harr Ford , Robie Ford , and another on the Lynnway in Lynn (didnt last long..went belly up ) . Harr Ford's Cobra was driven by Gus Zeidumia (sp) . He use to do a lot of Cobra work in his shop in Worchester . Where did you live at this time ??? Lynnfield ???? There were a few Cobra's around here . Intersting "history" on your car .:3DSMILE:

Steve - you may want to consider posting this question in a different forum or maybe starting a new thread after selecting a more appropriate forum.

When I first started posting, it took me a while to figure out I was actually posting in the Australian section (thanks Ron Computerworks) **) **) .
