Craig,

If you need more info on CHP, do a search here on CC. They are the self professed biggest Ford crate motor manufacturer in the world. I have owned two of their engines and their customer service was good, but they sometimes send engines out the door without "dotting the I's and crossing the T's", in my opinion.

My motor was a 545 c.i. monstor and it spun a rod bearing after 1800 miles. They replaced the motor, including shipping for free. In the above mentioned thread, a few of our other members had some negative things to say.

Best of luck,

Charmer

OMG-CHP?!!!

Good lord man, do not put CHP in the top-of-the-heap list. Search the Cobra sites and find plenty that may scare you away from them. I researched them quit a bit two years ago and got nothing but poor reports from many previous customers. Do your homework carefully. I suspect you'll come up with another vendor/builder.

Putting a 427 from CHP in a 68 Mustang Fastback for a customer ... looks nice, but they dont dyno engines, just hot test them, customer ordered it with EFI and has no tune, no base tune, 14k and they claim 550hp and over 500 ft. lbs and the cam is same specs that my friend had in 351 that wouldn't muster 400 flywheel hp.... building car pretty much from ground up so not sure when it will be running...but will add when I find out as first stop is chassis dyno so I can tune.....Gonna bring all this up next time I talk to Roush and see what insight they can give me on problems and resolving problems being a dealer.....because I dont like problems...... :)

This is an old thread but I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to respond. I have a 427R roush engine in my new SPF and it's awesome. I had a wonderful experience with roush and would buy another engine without question.
