Well for a well run, responsible company try VINTAGE MOTORS SPORTS in ct run by Brian and Jay. I doubt you can find any SERIOUS complaint about those boys. They jump thru hops to sove the problem.

No disrespect intended but, isn't the street beast wheel base like,.... a mile long ? (98") %/
I can't imagine a cobra that length. Sometimes I think my LSC at 94" is long but, like I've said many times, to each it's own. :) |
No disrespect taken but, the street beast wheel base is 90", wayyyyyyy less than a mile:LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL: however they do offer a STRETCH model for TALL people that is, I believe 98":eek::eek::eek::eek:

I fully apologize if I'm incorrect. :JEKYLHYDE
I just tried to look up their site but, I can not get to it ? This is from a page that contains a list of cobra manufactures. "Street Beast (avoid this mnfg)" Anyway, I know I've seen a advertised 98" wheel based Cobra. Any ideas ? |
Your correct. Here's a quote from a article from Kit Car Magazine.
"CHASSIS Frame: 2x4” rectangular tube with 2x2” square gussets and supports Wheelbase: 90” " Hum.,,,,,Now I'm really confused. lol |

Alot of this may be old news and terribly obvious to some of you old timers, but as a new guy I need all the info I can get. I've declared war on sh!tty customer service, and I've invested the energy it takes to get results from comapnies that just ignore problems. I love breaking it down in simple pieces so the customer torture reps can understand. "Here's the product you sell... Here's what I received.... See the difference?" "Here's the price you quoted.... Here's what it has actually cost me so far.... See the difference?" "Here's what your people told me.... Here's what I found out on my own.... See the difference?" "Here's what I wanted when I decided to spend my money with your company... Here's the results I get from you and nobody seems to give a damn.... See the difference?" "THIS is how I act when I get screwed out of money, in ANY amount. I expect to get what I ordered even if it's only 5 bucks at Taco Bell. I'm not leaving without satisfaction. NOW do you understand?" I advocate taking any action needed in these cases. I always state my case calmly and allow them the chance to get it right. If that fails, I turn up the heat and never quit. I've yet to resort to legal action, but I've ruined many a manager's day. |
Kevin,
To try and clear up the confusion, SB has two Cobra models, the 90" like I am building and a stretch model 98" for TALL people that they started offering a few years ago. And, yes, they have their problems which seem to stem from uneducated or just plain dishonest salesmen that promise the moon and can not stand behind their mouth. I have made "MANY" a phone call to the company and have resolved a "LOT" of my problems and have even been able to help another SB builder or two resolve their problems. I was lucky though as I got to meet and make friends with a few of the managers when they would bring their trailer and cars to the Spring Show in March and the Turkey Run in November at the Speedway in Daytona Beach. However, since I am past most of the problems they created, and now just have the ones I created (LOL), and the "HIGH" turnover rate they have my sources there are drying up. They did not come to the Spring show this year and I am waiting to see if they show for the November show. If so I will try and renew old contacts and/or make new ones because it is always "good" to have a back up plan.............LOL |
Thanks Earl, I didn't think I had Alzheimer's yet. :JEKYLHYDE

As a Street Beasts owner myself, I had my share of problems and concerns in the beginning, but they all got worked out. I believe the quality of my kit is as good as any other fiberglass kit. The Street Beasts Cobra of James (I think that's right) & Penny Wagner of Texas has been featured twice in Kit Car magizine. The last article I saw, had a title of "Well Built, Well Sold". Street Beasts still gets slammed for the sins of CMC. I see posts about other kit companies that don't send parts, don't return phone calls or e-mails, so a lot of companies are not "sinless". As with any major purchase, you need to ask questions before you buy. Club Cobra is the best place for information I have ever seen, but I don't like "recycled posts", especially ones that create a lot of negative talk that is outdated. :) |
52Chevyred,
If you check out the date of that post, you'd see that it was back in 2006. I have finished my car, in june to be exact, and am very happy with it. Yes I put a ton of money into it but I probally would have done that with any other kit. If you'd like, I've loaded some photos in my gallery for everyone to take a look at. |

Thanks for sharing and showing what a Street Beasts can look like, when it's done RIGHT! :) |
mine is a 98" wheel base and it rides like a Lexus.........and I have room to stretch out my legs plus room behind the seats.
|
Only my HO but Ive said it before and I will say it again. Buy an ERA, a Kirkham or a Shelby. Its the only ones I would own. Period.
|
Hey Kzof Good for you!!! Nobody asked you what you would buy on this thread!
|
Looking for a company that produces roadster kits for big guys over 6 foot and 300+. Any out there other than streetbeasts
|
All i was saying (HO, thought I was being nice about it) was buy from 1 of these that have great reps and it will keep you out of trouble. Been into Cobras for 30 years with 4 posts you could be a little nicer also.
|
I know this is a way old post but I thought I 'd chime in on my experience with CMC/StreetBeast/whoevertheyaretoday. I paid a lot of money for my kit and received a frame with a few parts and most everything else on back order. This was in 1994. Shortly after that they filed for bankruptcy and I lost nearly $10G. Undetered, i went looking again and ended up at Midstates. Bob Kallio was one of the nicest people you'd ever meet and even bought all my CMC parts from me; basically a discount on his car. He didn't have to do that and probably lost a little money on the deal but he gained a customer who'll brag him and Midstates up left and right. A few years ago Midstates was merged with Shell Valley and so far my dealings with them have also been very good. I guess the point is, there are a lot of really good manufacturers out there so if you really want a Cobra don't look for cheap, look for quality of product and coustomer service, you'll be happier in the long run.

streetbeast is the best
