:eek: Wow Santiago, that engine was a peice of crap. I hear what both sides are saying and both make good points, however EM recommended Cavaliere........THEY RECOMMENDED THEM. Need I say more.. Some of the responsibility should have been shared by EM. They did nothing. I love EM, it doesn't matter, THEY WERE WRONG.

I do not know if E-M still recommends Cavaliere. I do know his website is still up and running.

I also know that Santiago went to great lengths to try and be a gentleman about getting this matter corrected with:

- Brett E-M
- Cavaliere
- Florida AG
- Florida DMV
- Curt Scott

and others. It saddens me that someone trusts a builder with $40K of his hard earned money only to be burned. I think all Santiago wanted from E-M was some acknooledgement of the problem and help with a possible solution. He does not even drive the car because he feels it is unsafe.

How would you feel with a $40K unsafe relic sitting in your garage?

SHAME on EM for not helping you out. I think I'll remove EM's link
from my website or at least put up a warning. It you really need them
they won't be there for you.... EM should step in now even if late and
take an example from Unique Motor Cars..

Yes, we all agree that Santiago has gotten hosed pretty bad and I'll be the first to agree that E-M could have offered to act as an intermediary on Santiago's behalf, but thay chose not to go that route and other than that one infraction, you would be hard pressed to find anyone else who could claim them to be anything other than a first rate outfit, me included. Cavaliere is the bad actor here (a very bad actor I might add) and E-M only played a supporting role along with several others as John has listed.

Please, you really have to give Brett and E-M the benefit of the doubt here and not go off on a smear campaign, especially since we have never heard their side of the story, nor are we ever likely to. This thread and forum is only meant to be a basis for enlightened public discussion.

I wish I had the kind of horsepower to intercede on Santiago's behalf and help him recover his considerable losses, but crucifying E-M beyond bringing out their failure to assist Santiago would be wrong and certainly doesn't help Santiago.

Just a link to Sanatiago's intial thread and my suggestion
that this was their chance to shine and didn't..

I feel if they RECOMMENDED someone they should help out getting things fixed. BUT,
I'm surprised at them that they would want that kind of example out
there of their cars, professionally built by someone THEY recomended.

Well, when i intially requested information from EM it was a nightmare..
Requested info by email, fax as I couldn't get anyone on the phone that could take my credit card info, then machines didn't work, they called me back three times asking credit card info because they could get their machine to work. They
spent more in phone calls then the would have gotten for the info. Finally they just sent it.. I was very dismayed that none of the machines seemed to work in their place. IE: Email, fax, credit card machine.

EM's product is impressive, customer service is not. I was very impressed when I saw it at Carlisle. Then I remembered the hard time I had getting info. Omen? Maybe. Maybe not. But, I feel if you can't handle the little stuff what about the big stuff.

That's what is great about America. I'm entitled to my opinion as you are. While legally EM may not
be responsible morally I feel they are. Great product or not, customer service is the key.

When Ford(EM), sells a car to one of their dealers(Cavaliere) and one of the dealers screws
the car up fixing problems. Ford will step in if need be. And of course there are a few
hundred other examples of this. IT's basic business.

I'd just like to make a couple points:

-when I got George Anderson's name from Midstates,while I was researching manufacturers for 6 months, I took the responsibility and risk in hiring him to build my engine. If he would have given me poor service(which he certainly did not), I would have called Midstates and warned them of the kind of work he was doing in detail and in person. I in no way would expect them to get involved with the poor decision I made in using him.

-secondly I would legally go after anyone who would do what this gentleman had done to him, and if everything has transpired as it apparently has, I don't think recovering your losses would be that difficult.

- my guess is that Brett was afraid of being dragged into a court fight. Infact he could be following his attorney's and/or company's advice. I doubt that EM's lack of a response is a cold lack of concern, but rather fear out of not understanding their liabilities. I don't think they have the sophistication and legal expertise that Ford or othe high profile companies have in dealing with something like this.

-and finally I'm not sure that we can be so accusatory when we frankly don't know the facts. That's why we have courts. I still don't understand why EM wasn't retained to build the car and why they would so willingly send business away.

I hope I haven't offended anyone with my comments. That was not my intention.
