Windshield Cracked

Where can I get a replacement windshield @ the cheapest price? Are all the windshields the same? They look like they are.

Is Fast Freddie's Lexan Windshield worth looking into?

How about a hint, what kind of car are we talking about?

SPF, BDR, ERA, CSX, etc., etc.,

blykins 07-14-2011 06:27 PM

Most are the same. I think the BDR and SPF use a different windshield.

Do you need just the replacement glass, or a complete windshield with frame?

The lexan screens are nice, but they scratch easily.

I ordered my CSX replacement glass from Shell Valley. If you replace the glass but keep the old frame be absolutely positive to put the screws back exactly where they came from.

Shell Valley is probably your best bet for replacement glass. Hanes Hot Rods also advertises them on e-bay. Most will fit but there are English original type, American and other countries of origin. SPF will not fit and CCX hardware is high end OEM stuff on parts like that. You'll pay royally for replacements of that quality.

How clear is the lexon windshied anyone use it, can you tell its not real glass

blykins 07-15-2011 04:27 AM

My windshield/glass is THE glass/frame sold by Shell Valley. That's where I get my parts from.

As for the Lexan, you can't really tell any difference in it. I had it in my own Cobra.

Make sure none of the screws around the perimeter of the windshield come into contact with the glass or it will crack again. The windshield frame cannot be preloaded or stressed when tightning the framework mounting screws or bolts. Shim these attachment points so the framework doesn't get sucked in,if you don't do this the frame will stress the glass and it may break from bumps on the road or heat exspansion.
