where do you get parts for your Contemporary classics?

Hi guys,

(I apologize if this might seem like a stupid question but I'm sort of learning as I go)

As a new contemporary classic owner- I am wondering, since they are out of business, where do you get your parts? Will most parts from other replica company's fit with no problems? Or is there a website that some of you other ccx owners can recommend? thanks !

What parts do you need?

Hi Bill - Nothing in particular right now but im sure that in the future I will need some things here and there. Is it something that depends on the part whether it is ok to get it from any company? like interior parts for example - maybe the dash covering or door handles- would that be something that I can get from anywhere? or should it be specific to contemporary classics?

Suppliers will depend on exactly what you need at the time. Dash covering, any local upholstery shop can get it for you, same with carpet and seat covers. Door handles can be had by several Cobra vendors and manufacturers (ERA has them, Cobra restorers has them, heck, even Moss Motors has them). Suspension parts (ball joints, tie rods, etc) can be sourced at a local auto parts store (jag based parts). So again, it depends on exactly what you need.

I would recommend that you first contact Nick Acton to see if he can help you with the concern you might have.

Acton Custom Enterprises Custom Metal for Cobra's

He has excellent knowledge of the Contemporary Cobra replicas (and original and other replicas in the market), and can supply you with certain hardware; if he does not have what you are looking for, he will definitely point you in the right direction, or he'll build it for you!

His products are very good (have his pedal box and competition fuel tank in my car) and I recommend you shoot him a note or two if you have any questions on the car.

I always do!!

Regards,
George

For the record, this end user (mickmate) is Nick Acton ;)

He is highly recommended for upgrades to your Contemporary Cobra.

One more vote for Nick. He found and repaired some significant safetly issues when I first bought my used Contemporary and since then has done a lot of nice upgrades on the car. I am lucky that I only about an hour away from him.

Another supporting vote for Nick. He's your man. If you need something that Nick doesn't have, you might check CobraRestorers.com. They have just about everything one would need to support a Shelby Cobra and most of those fit the Contemporary. They even have a few things listed specifically for a Contemporary.
