Jag Wishbone Rebuild

I'm building up my rear suspension and am trying to decide if I should replace the worn bearings with new bearings or with polyurethane bushings. Either way, does anybody have a source for either?

The purpose pit the stiffer bushings is too try and get rid pit all the play in a bushing.....What can possibly be better than bearings.?

Thanks Nick. Looks like another few bucks are leaving here soon. I'll flip around their site and see if they have the fronts too.

These bushings from CJ are what I used rebuilding my XKE rear 10 years ago and they are much superior to the original needle bearings. Understand the wish bone only moves through a very small arch when under function. Most of the wishbones will reveal galled or flattened bearings as they just don't move enough. A grease-able bushing is much better. Rick

I got them ordered . Nice folks to deal with.

Xks.com is a good place to get most everything you'll need. If they don't have it, they can tell you where to find it.

I just ordered the bushings and they called me to say the washers were not included in the price. This brought it from $147 with shipping to $195 with the washers for just the one set.

Kind of bugs me when they say one thing then do another. Their web site states they are included.

Silversmith 07-29-2013 06:36 PM

Sounds like the old shaft attempt to me. If the site says washers included then you should print a copy of the page stating they are included & tell them so. As you now have the proof !! I think that is called false advertising. :JEKYLHYDE At least I know who not to call for parts. Thanks.

mickmate 07-29-2013 07:17 PM

It does indeed say they are included, did you call them on it?
Hey John, don't forget to beef up those lower arms while they are out.

There was no question to what was included. I got the entire set of bushings and washers for the advertised price. Only issues I had were that everything needs to be machined for fit end clearance wise.

The gusset project was accomplished LONG ago. It was one of the first mods I did after I got all my pieces after I got the car.

Ok..I received an email from Dan Mooney at Classic Jaguar this morning. He stated I was billed for the washers in error and was refunding my money for the washers and shipping the set for free.

Maybe there was some confusion or they are going to charge in the future for the washers separately, but he corrected the problem and I am a happy camper. I am not sure how you would run the bushings without the washers, so I hope they do not decide to make the 2 items separate unless you ask for them separately.

All in all...a good place to deal with. I appreciate their honesty!
