Contemporary Project For Sale

One of the members from Tucson has a mostly completed Contemporary kit that he needs to sell. He's had some issues and can no longer continue with the car. All of the rolling gear is completed. The body is painted, blue with white stripes... Com'on.. don't be surprised. It has a 428 FE with a close ratio top loader ready for installation. The chassis is complete with peddal box from Nick Acton's installed. Pin drive wheels... In short, everything is done right. He is asking $35K for everything as is. If you are intereseted, please drop me a note on here and we can chat. I don't have any photos now but will try to get some next week. I'm posting this here for a couple of weeks before I post on Cobra Country or in the For Sale tab here. There has to be a Contemporary fan out there who needs a great ride..

Just spoke with Rick on the phone. Here is a list of things that remain to be done:

The interior needs to be installed.

The electrical wiring harness needs to be installed.

Windshield wipers need to be hooked up and have the motor installed.

Heater and air vent ducting need to be installed.

The body has been painted but the clear coat needs to be buffed out and the body needs to be installed

The engine and transmission are now installed in the chassis and the assembled sub assembly has been tested.

Coil spring or torsion bar front end?

Danr55 12-18-2016 05:58 PM

Tortion bar I think. I'm going to take some photos on Tuesday. I will check.. Further review indicates that the car is a coil spring front end as shown in the photos.

I am taking pictures today and will have answers to the many questions I've received. Please stand by.. I will post the pictures this afternoon. If, after seeing the photos, you are interested, please email DANR55@MSN.COM with questions or post here.
Thank you.

I am attaching the photos that I took of the car today. I was wrong about the front end. It is a coil spring front end and not a torsion bar suspension. The car orgininally came out of Don Borders shop in Hemet Ca. So you know it is well done. Besudes the peddale box installation, all of the forward and rear control arms and A arms are billet machined. There are three dual 4 barrel carb manifolds that go with the car. One of them has two Holley 550 or 600 cfm carbs. Chasis number is CCX3-3847. As shown it is the later configuration with the X frame for stiffness and the coil over front end.

Two roll bars, the second will have to have the attach points welded to the frame, and Vintage Wheels, six pin drive wheels, an eight quart oil pan with windage tray and Slaisbury differential with a 3.56:1 ratio.

Nice!

$35K is a goodly chunk of change, but, in this case, probably a good price. Everything I saw was beautifully done to the highest standards and the quality of the body and all the parts land pieces is excellent. I really doubt if $50K+ would cover them, even if you could find them.

It's a really nice car, and will provide the new owner with an experience very close to what driving an original 427 S/C was like; and honestly, all that's left is final assembly, wiring, a good rubout on the body, and getting the seats re-webbed and reconditioned - the leather on the seats still felt pretty flexible, but it needed some conditioner to soften it up and bring it back to life ...

The billet on the suspension is beautiful, and the tires are date coded April 2011, and they have been stored off the ground since new, so they should still be good.

Someone's gonna get a good deal.

Danr55 04-11-2017 12:48 PM

Is this still available? Yes. Someone jump on this rascal..

Danr55 06-01-2017 06:50 PM

Looks like we have a deal.

mikiec 06-09-2017 08:24 PM

Is the car staying in AZ?

Mikiec

Danr55 06-11-2017 03:26 PM

The car is staying in Arizona until Charlie gets it completed, then it's moving to it's new home in Washington State..
