My car is an AC Mk IV and I used the standard 302 radiator for the 427FE swap. Its a similar rad to the Fluidyne, but has a smaller 3", not 3.5" core. I modified the shroud, by making fiberglass mouldings that enable it to be attached to the radiator with radiator cable ties. Works perfect if you use the Volvo controller and BMW radiator, M22 thread, dual temp switch. My FE can idle in traffic for an hour, in summer traffic with the fan alternating between high and low speed. I also fitted two warning lamps to the dash, so I can see which speed is coming on.

Jon : I installed mine in my Kirkham, and I think the most difficult part was getting it in behind the radiator. Brand of radiator shouldn't matter that much. Cobra replicas have the radiator in many locations and angles , from tilted fwd to aft and every degree in between.
My kirkham (and the originals) have the radiator layed back just enough so it looks like you could pull it out from the top ( quick change in the pits ?) but the bottom half is within an inch of the steering rack, no way is the shroud going to fit. I had to cut the lower half of the shroud off to the point that the shroud sits on top of the rack, and it stil was too high on top, so I had to add a metal strip to the top of the radiator. however it works great !i |

When I di that swap in my CCX I purchased a low profile efficient fan from Speedway. It works perfect and was very low profile allowing more than enough room which a std CCX has plenty of.
It attached via pull tabs through the core, designed that way. I live in the NE so larger diameter was not necessary. I would in hindsight just maximize diameter to best suit the cooling as we all know these cars heat up. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/IM000270.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/IM000273.JPG |
