Electrical Issues

Not sure if anyone else has charging issues with thier Contemporarys or not. I had an intermediate issue that would cause the voltage meter to bounce around like a fart in a skillet. Sometimes it would peg on the high side and sometimes it would just go dead.. Anyway.. I finally isolated it to a thru-bulkhead fitting on the right hand side of the firewall. The first time I checked it, it checked fine. The second time I checked it it was dead. Third time I checked it, it was fine again. I finally pulled to plug apart. There are small semi circular bayonet fittings in the connector. The bayonet fitting for the main power wire on the aft side of the connector was corroded away. If you pushed on it just right it made contact and everything was fine. If you wiggled it just a little bit and the bayonet pulled away, there was nothing. I bypasses the plug entirely by running a jumper wire from the engine bay to the foot box and the whole issue is gone.

Just a heads up for anyone with similar issues.

Just a quick note to say I'm going through a very similar situation right now (after the blown lower radiator hose event...that was spectacular and after the dead/dying battery issue still not totally resolved.....boy is this fun). After some tracing I'll probably resort to your solution before rewiring the car.

To date the only challenge I've seen on mine CCX related is adjusting front ride height (little low on driver's side) and this is really an XKE thing. I've found some XKE info on line (and have a Bentley's on order) but my copy of the CCX Builders Manual appears to be a little light on this.
