Contemporary Radiators
Does anyone know who manufactured the radiators Contemporary used in their cars? Are they still in business? Also are there drop in radiators available that offer extra cooling?

I believe the originals were made by Howe Racing. THey don't make a drop in, but if you send them the dimensions from yours, they will make one up and send it to you for a reasonable price ($400.00). They did for me anyway.

These guys just made me a gorgeous original spec radiator for $425. Jeff 1985CCX put one in his CCX nose and it looks good.

I thought Jeff put a fluidyne in his car and angled like the originals... I want to get something that will fit in the stock position but give me more cooing. My radiator is ok, but I blew off the top hose coming back from a ride on Sunday. Fortunately only a few blocks from my house. The hose just came off the water inlet . I don't know if it vibrated loose or the pressure pushed it off as it was registering about 212 degrees at the light before I started to roll again. The car runs hot about 190-195 degrees, which I'm told is normal for a BB. I', running a 16 lb cap and a 180 degree thermostat which id drilled out as well. I have twin pusher fans in the front and one puller in the normal rear position. perhaps a better puller fan may help? Any ideas. I'll check out Howe and PRC today. Thanks guys..... Ralph |

I bought the Fluidyne for my car. unfortunately it's still in the box as I haven;t gotten far enough ahead to put it in, that's a long way down the road. If you want to see what it's built like let me know, I'm right in West Islip. I looked at it and it's very well built and quite a bit heavier than the original. I also thought that Jeff had a Fluidyne. I think Nick's eating too much of that Vegemite road tar these days....... :LOL: |

Is the fluidyne a replacement fabricated to fit within the stock engine bay configuration or are you going to angle it like Jeff did with his replacement. If it is a standard fit replacement with additional core area, I would like to stop by to see it. Ralph |

Yes, I did use a Fluidyne Shelby replacement 3 core in the CCX. :D
Howe or Griffin should be able to handle the exact drop in. John Montgomery, now a Unique 289 owner, used one from Griffin with a great shrouded fan attached. Drop him a line for first hand experience...... There is also a guy in Indiana that makes great taylor made units PRC. Mickmate has his contact information above. These are top notch and you will speak to the guy making it versus the corporate run around on a custom unit. Jeff |

Duh, I reread my post and it is confuscious. Jeff has set you straight on his Fluidyne. I have a PRC in mine. I won't be able to tell you how it works for a but though. A friend of mine just put a PRC in Dads original 289. It is nice, so is the Fluidyne.
