Looking at a Contemporary Cobra, need advice

Hello all

I'm a self admitted motor head and have always wanted a Cobra. I have found a Contemporary near me and would like some advice on what to look for.

Here is the short description: 427 side oiler, big input toploader 4spd,halibrand wheels[pin drive knockoffs] wattslink rear, willwood brakes, coil overs.

It has 5K miles since new. Looks like it has been enjoyed but not abused. I may go look at it this weekend. Asking price is $40K.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Drew

40K for a 427 sideoiler powered Contemporary Cobra......Grab it quick before the owner realizes what he has sitting in his garage........If you don't buy it on the spot, email me the contact information and I'll find a buyer for it quickly...........

Only real thing to check is if it has the torsion bar front end or a later coil over front end......

Either way torsion or coilover 40k for any running nicely appointed CCX is a good deal. They are well constructed and will last for many years. Engines can easily be changed out thus somewhat equal but a SO adds to it.

The CCX group can offer support offline via email
Build manuals (free)
Tech help (free)
tech literature (free)
and more..........

Go ahead buy one, you won't regret it! :D

With the Watts and Wilwoods that makes for an even better set up on a sweet Cobra. Buy it!

YOu should wait on it. Tell me where it is and I'll go look at it for you.

Ha!Ha!Ha!

Thankyou everyone, I bought it. In general it is a very tight car mechanically. It does show a few small nicks and scrapes here and there but nothing terrible. It will make a great car to drive and have fun it. Its nice that I don't have to worry about putting the first scratch on it. Incredible power from the 427 SO and smooth shifting top loader.

Thanks again for the support

Drew welcome to the madness. You won't regret a buy like that. Congrats, get on the Contemporary mailing list for tech support, literature, general info and cameraderie. Jeff 1985 CCX will be in touch on it. Oh and put some pics in your gallery!
