More Strange parts
OK, we worked out the issue of the rear hubs with some help from the folks on this board. So let's look at the front hubs which are also, not as advertised, series I XKE. Anyone recognize this monster? It takes series 1 E type wheels bearings and seals, but it's sure not s series 1 E type front hub.

Are you sure you don't have Mustang II front spindles? My rotors/hubs look just like yours- they measure 1" thick rotor, 1 7/8" high step, then 1 3/4" long bearing nose. These are the GM rotors used on the Mustang II conversions. Mine are drilled for Ford bolt pattern, but the original GM pattern should be the same as the Jag bolt pattern. Bob |

All the Mustang II spindles (and Pinto, I believe) are the same. It's the rotors that are GM. I'm not sure, but I thought the guy told me the rotors were '79 Monte Carlo or thereabouts. You can buy them as "Mustang II GM Conversion" rotors on just about any of the Performance sites- Jegs, Summit, Speedway, etc.... and the good thing is they are relatively cheap compared to most Cobra parts.

Well guess what? These are GM 334348 hubs that were developed for a large block Camaro and Firebird. They are the same hubs used on the ERA cobra....and, it appears, on the Contemporary. At least on some of them.

Are the bearings the same as in the 11.5 Granada rotor? Why not use it?

Rick, the bolt pattern is a GM pattern and the bearings match the Jag series III. I don't know about the Granada. It's an eleven inch rotor.

I told ya it looked like C3 Corvette a month ago. To be fair I said there is 2 hubs the Vette uses but did not know if you had small or large bearing hub. If you want to spend $$ ask for Vette parts but they are the same as items listed for Camero and the El Camino only cheaper. Go look at this article, it talks about the interchange between other Chebbie but show the obsolete 1 piece unit etc... http://www.enjenjo.com/techart/70impaladisc.html I do have the larger bearing hub/spindle assembly and maybe a small hub for comparison only. They fit chassis's in the works but your welcome to borrow for a while. If they are right for you I have all the component part numbers to save you a little research time. |
