Ford project Cobra X
I saw somewhere either web or a book that Ford looked into developing the cobra
here is a pic. http://gallery.me.com/dornworks/1000...20X%20/web.jpg kinda looks veetish to me |
That is the "Cougar II" built on the first production 260 chassis by Ford Styling. The roadster version was the "Cobra XD" better known as the "Bordinat Cobra", Damn sweet cars!
Cobrajeff has all the info, he has personally made the cars available to the public at SAAC a few years ago and they are now on display elsewhere. Do a little search here and see the details. |
We talked about the Cougar II and the Bordinat Cobra back when CobraJeff was unearthing the artifacts. :p
He brought both to SAAC-29 in Michigan Here's the old thread (linked pics are missing) Bordinat and Cougar II Thread ...plus a current page on the Cougar II http://www.carstyling.ru/en/cars.196...ugar%20II.html |
The info may have been in the earlier thread, but weren't they composite bodies. I think it was Cycolac( or something similar), later became known as ABS(?) plastic. Used in a lot of bike fairings but the several car models, including the AMT (model car company) Piranha that was seen in some of the old "Get Smart" series, never seemed to get anywhere.
If they were produced, would the aluminum ones then be considered less desirable:LOL:. |
This very car -- the Cougar II (CSX2008), designed by Ford Styling's Eugene Bordinat -- is currently on display at the Detroit Historical Museum through September 2010.
