Now, to pour more racing fuel onto the 200mph topic. Unless there is video, I'm going with Mr. TwinTurbo on this one. In 2 cars with identical aerodynamics, and with identical gearing: if carA can reach 180 with 500hp, then carB needs 700hp to reach 200... Just to overcome the atmospheric drag. Remember- drag coefficients are not linear- they are logarithmic (that's just fancy engineering talk for "The faster you go, the harder it is to go even faster" ) and personally, I think all the stories about the original Daytonas hitting 190 back in the 60's was a boast... 170? sure. 180? that's stretching it.... but 190? I'd have to see the radar readout, and the calibration report on the gun... :LOL: |
