looking to see if anyone recognize this coupe? i been working on it for months and bought it out of NJ in NOV. like to find the previous owner that actually knows about the car than the jack ass i got it from.
thanks in advance. |
Look's somewhat familiar, 2years ago, on CL (Portland Ore." there was a FFR Coupe (White with blue stripe, single pipe on each side) for sale there, the ad said needs tune-up, and minor work, The guy I spoke finally admitted, he knew nothing about the car, it was "Friend of a Friend." The car had no title but had a Ore. Plate on it?? The tune-up was just nothing, as he said. I received his video "Nothing more than a Rod knock I found out"!!! Talked to the person that Quote, unquote own it, MORE BS. At the same time frame, I found it online at an Auction in Indiana!!! He said that was mistake??? What?? PM me, if you think this the same car and I'll tell more, Cheers Tom.

Looks familiar as Tom has pointed out....Being, at one time, heavily involved in the NJ kit car scene, can't say I'd ever seen it. Was it northern, or southern, NJ? Not a FFR, not a Contemporary, although the body might be that from Lesher or Contemporary. Lesher was using 4" mandrel bent round tube for their frames if that helps narrow things down. Last I heard, Lesher had switched to 99% Spec Miata work and had essentially abandoned the Daytona Coupe for lack of interest. Uncertain what became of the old Upstate Replica (ex-Contemporary) jigs and molds after their ownership back in the 2007 time frame.

Might be one of Lee Benson's, he has since passed, I believe, his shop was in Pa, near Harrisburg?

all good responses guys!
Feel free to Message me if you want to send me more " possible " info. All i know is it has a ton of pretty neat stuff on it, and some not to " street " friendly stuff. rear end is a winters quick change, wilwood superlite brakes, full floater rear axles, 3 link, with a J bar, pretty different stuff.... like it was a racecar at some point. Front suspention is very limited travel, and big brakes, willwood superlites, 11 3/4 disks that are 1 1/4" wide, with a 8 on 7" bolt circle... like late model brakes back in the day. overall, im getting it put together and hope ill be able to finish it up and drive it, just wish i know 100% who/ what shop built it. would make it much easier to deal with. |
Tom,
if you still have the video, could you send it possibly? |
I started building one similar many years ago.Too much other stuff going on to finish, unless some sugar daddy wants to fund finishing it, It'll stay in storage-http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/showphoto.php/photo/13451/ppuser/9746

Sorry, I deleted it right after trying to deal with these two clowns. I do remember, it had a 351W, unknown if bored or stroked, some kind of Alum heads, and a set of 48 or 44IDA Weber's. And of course, the rod knock that went with it ;) Did not ever see it in person, they called it a "Special FFR" When I asked what Gen. it was, it was like deer in headlights, HUH?

Does it have CT assigned vin? Looks like Mark Reid’s car. His was a gen 1 coupe #190.

You could also try searching online marketplaces or classified ad websites for similar cars in the NJ area to see if you can find any potential leads. Good luck with your search geometry dash unblocked
