If a Superformace, it must be a prototype. It doesn't look like ours.

Crummy angle on the pic, but looks like a R+D concepts body, look at the height of the rear fenders.TSW wheels?

Hey All,
Saw a light blue (no stripes) Coupe getting on the Taconic State Parkway North in Valhalla, NY yesterday, Friday June 8th at 5:00 p.m. A RARE sight indeed! Anyone know who it might be? Couldn't tell what the manufacturer was. Rick Weber |
Sorry but you are all wrong.
The car is a Daytona Coupe made in Dromana, Victoria, Australia by Daytona Sports Cars. The car is competing in a road rally called Targa Tasmania. Check out their website at: :: The Daytona Sports Cars Pty. Ltd. :: |

My thoughts also... Identified by the side race number, Rego sticker on bottom corner of windscreen, & the fact the side exhausts are covered by the perforated fairing & don't actually exit the side of the car as per original. Also I think I can make out the side indicators as per local ADR rules. PS: For our American firends - The Peter Brock mention is not the same Peter Brock designer of the coupe, but that of a legendary race car driver in Australia who actually past away after a racing car incident while driving this model Daytona sports car. Brock killed in hairpin smash - National - smh.com.au |
The car is the first vehicle built by our Australian company, Daytona Sports Cars. In brief, it is a spaceframe chassis designed in house, with a fibreglass body also produced in house. This picture is quite old, it was taken in Tasmania in 2002, when we were competing in Targa Tasmania for the second time. Back then, the car ran a 5.7L Chev V8 with a Tremec 5 speed gearbox, and local Holden diff with a KAAZ LSD centre. The colour was Guardsman Blue, the white stripes I can't remember the name. (A number of our customers have used Wimbledon White). Side mirrors were MX5, rims were Australian made 17x8 ROH 'RT'. The car, and all subsequent cars, are road registered, and meet or exceed all Australian Design Rules, and feature an FIA approved rollcage. Many of the smaller details of the car have changed since this photo was taken, we no longer use MX5 mirrors, or the ROH wheels, most of the cars built in the last few years run 7L LS7 engines, Holinger gearboxes, and an in-house designed and assembled diff. As Serpnt suggested, visit our website for images and information more up-to-date. James Bendell

I love LS7 powered coupes !!! Mine is almost ready ! that photo is an Aussie coupe for sure, I have been all over my coupe and that car is shaped a bit differently than #54.
I look forward to seeing them in Monterey this year - I hear some are coming over ! |
Aussie Coupes are coming
PANAVIA,
There will be at least one Aussie Daytona Coupe @ PB/Monterey this year. I will be attending the events ( without Coupe  ) but am sure I will enjoy myself. STIFFY |
