Coupe Insurance

I am in the process of purchasing a SPF Daytona Coupe with a Roush 402IR. I called my State Farm agent (I have my other "normal" cars and house with him) and explained the car to him and told him that I would likely drive the car on weekends only, for only 5k miles or so a year. He quoted me "basic" insurance for $500 to $800 per year. Does this sound right or do I have to go through a specialty insurance carrier? The price from State Farm sounds too good to be true for an $85,000 car.

This sounds about right. I just insured my SPF coupe with "American Collector" for $760 per year under a "recreational use" clause that allows 2500 miles per year. State Farm has been a good insurer for me in the past. Badger

Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the info - I'm new to this stuff and am trying not to mess up. Just curious - what engine/trans did you pick for your coupe?

insurance caution

If you are getting a "regular" insurance policy VS a stated value policy you may have problems if the car is totaled or stolen. My regular policy would have taken the value when purchased new, then depreciated for each year to determine value or taken the present value of "like" vehicles. As Cobra values seem to have a wide variance I didn't want them deciding what was a "like" vehicle, so I went with a stated value policy. There wasn't much difference in price and I wanted to be covered if the car ever was a total loss.

a stated value policy can also be penciled by an insurance company in case of a catastrophic loss, ie, total. you may or may not get the total stated value. an AGREED value policy however gives you maximum protection, as it cannot be penciled in a 'total' . in all cases that assumes the claim / event was not in violation of any other policy restrictions ( ie, no racing, not to work etc re any exclusions a policy might have) . same violations of policy would also release them from paying out on an actual cash value (regular policy) or stated value policy . however, some states do not allow an agreed value policy to be written . bill

Superformance Brock Coupe

Hi 200plus. I'm running an RDI built ,alloy block 427 with a Tremec T56. Nice combination: at 80 in 6th it's only turning 2000 rpm, so fuel mileage runs about 20+mpg.

200mph,Badger, I did not see any pictures in your galleries, what color did you get or order. Good to see other Coupe owners out there.

Hi Greg,
No pics yet since I don't have a car - I have an appt with my dealer on Mar. 5 to place the order. I'm a newbie, so I need to meet with him to discuss the process, engine options, suppliers, etc. From the reading I've done, I'm looking at a Roush 402IR or 427R. For color I'm leaning toward the indigo bue with white stripes. Nice pics in your gallery. The red looks really great with the stripes! If all goes well, I should have my car by end of May (8-10 weeks for delivery of the car plus a couple of weeks for install of the engine/trans). Believe me, I will have pics posted the same/next day!

Badger,
Thanks for the tip on the RDI engine - haven't looked into that option and will check it out...

I was told by a friend and new Brock Coupe owner that his insurance company would double the allowable miles per year, if he belonged to at least two car clubs. Seems like a good deal if correct.

Thanks for the info seafox. Any idea who your friend's carrier is?

Doug
