Cannonball One Lap in A FFR Coupe
Three mildly disturbed members of the Capital Area Cobra Club will be participating in this years One Lap of America in a FFR coupe.
http://www.beaverun.com/images/Thumb...eLapLogo-A.gif The schedule is as follows: April 30- South Bend, IN (Tire Rack Hdqtrs) Wet Skid Pad Drive to Indianapolis - Same day April 30- Indianapolis Raceway Park 2 time trials Drive 383 miles to Pittsburgh May 1- BeaverRun Road Course 2 Time Trials Drive 213 miles to Buffalo - Same day May 1- Lancaster Speedway 1/2 mile oval under the lights Drive 438 miles (at night) (thats 651 miles plus 2 tracks in one day) May2 New Hampshire Int. Speedway 2 Time Trials Drive 538 miles May 3- Summit Point 2 time trials on new Shenandoah circuit May 3- 45 miles to Mason Dixon Dragway for 2 races Drive 293 miles to Danville, VA May 4- VIR 3 Time Trials Drive 390 miles to Savannah, GA May 5- Roebling Road 2 Time Trials Drive 777 miles to Warren, OH May 6- Nelson Ledges 2 Time Trials Drive 301 miles May 7- Tire Rack Dry Skid Pad We won't be able to include Roebling Road, but it's still a Total of 3,540 miles plus to and from South Bend. Well, the car made it back in one piece, and they did finish! (I hate to say it, but they were just beat out in the final standings by a, are you ready for this?, a VW Beatle Turbo Diesel!!!!):CRY:
The guys had fun, but they missed one race track and one check point, otherwise they would have beat the VW. Only one speeding ticket, from NY's finest. Each driver took a turn going backwards (spin-out) at some point in their week of fun. Lots of other funny and interesting moments, maybe they will post a few themselves. |
