Side Pipe Question

I was doing some snooping around the other day on Ebay, and saw a Daytona Coupe poster for sale. That, in and of itself, was not too much to get excited about, but what I did notice was something about the exhaust.

On this particular coupe, the side pipes were run as singles like the roadster, rather than the duals that I'm used to seeing on the coupes. Did any of the original coupes run singles on them? I'm curious, as it opens up possibilities with regard to which pipes can be run and still "look" appropriate. Granted, it still boils down to a matter of taste, but I was just wondering if that was something that was originally run at any time.

I don't know about the originals but Peter Brock who designed them as well as the SPF Daytona Coupe has single side pipes on his SPF Coupe and would know the answer re the originals.
