Never seen that before. I wonder what CSX #. Kinda cool to see a Daytona in OTR action, even hokey footage like this. Better than seeing one in a ditch!

That car in the clip still had "13" on the tail...
...the one Coupe that ran with #13 was CSX2299...now with Larry Miller.

A bunch of years ago my brother had told me that he saw a Daytona Coupe in an episode of the Monkees. The Daytona is driven by a villian in the show. Now I have at least seen part of that episode. I think my brother told me that the Daytona was shown in other scenes besides the race.

The Monkees episode "The Monkees Race Again" aired February 12, 1968, and probably filmed a week or two earlier.

You can see the Goodyear stickers front and rear on the Cobra at various points in the film. This fits with a car that was on loan to Goodyear at various times during that era.

The number 13 is a piece of paper taped to the back of the car - look at 2:27 of the film. You can see a number 1 under the 13. Anybody have pics of the CSX2299 with just a number 1 when it was at Goodyear or SA?

The hidden number could also be a 4, which might make it CSX2601 with the 4 left over from Coppa di Enna. Although my money is still on 2299 as the water and air jack nozzles can be seen on the top of the fender at 2:25 instead of the side like CSX2601 would have.

Thanks for posting the film! Now my wife is going to be wondering why I am going to try and order a Monkees DVD.%/

Monkeemobile vs Daytona Coupe

I wonder which car would bring more at Barrett-Jackson? :)
After all, B-J is Hollywood on wheels.

FYI...This Dean Jeffries #2 Monkeemobile (currently owned by George Barris) recently underwent a modern upgrade (not a faithful restoration!!)
and is on the Barrett-Jackson auction block set for Scottsdale 2008!
While it is billed as the #1 car, it is clearly the #2 car. This car was not seen on the show until the 2nd season. There were differences
between the 2 cars to tell them apart.

FYI, this episode is on Season 2 Disk 4. I was able to get just that disk through Blockbuster Online, and it should be available from Netflix or in Blockbuster stores as well.
