Lift pads/points on Coupe
Hey Folks,
I bet everybody is about DONE with Winter. With that thought in mind, am preparing for Spring and I need your input on lift points on the Coupe. Up until now I have only lifted it with a floor jack and jack stands. But now I need to put it up on a 4 arm, 2 post lift. I have checked the manual but it makes no mention on how to lift it this way and I can't seem to locate lift points for where the 4 arms should be placed. F.Y.I. I have full side exhausts. Appreciate your help and keep the faith...Winter WILL end! Rick |
I think that you want to look for a 4 post lift with a very low entrance onto the lift ..Take it up very, very slowly onto the lift..IF it looks like it may not be low enough, it won't ... Most repair garages have them..you just have to call around....Dave

Thx for the reply. Actually at the place I have in mind, the arms pivot/swing back and forth from the upright posts. My main concern is/was where to position the lift points on the frame. It's a perfect day for Cobra driving...about 7" inches of snow... Thanks again, Rick |
I have a FFR Roadster (bought it used), so your jacking points maybe different. I went to my normal garage that does all my daily drivers for the last 20 years and they said no. They would not touch it, since it has a round tube frame and they do not have adaptors to fit it. So far I have only put it on jack stands using a floor jack. Good luck.

Again Lee, find a garage with a 4 post lift with a very low entrance or glide path onto the lift....I have always used 4 posts..Dave

Rick I would guide those pads under the 4 inch tubing on all 4 sides Watch out for the arms though and your pipes....Dave

Thanks for your input Dave and Lee. What's the worst that could happen...hehehe..I wonder how the coupe handles driving upside down...hahaha...

Hey Rick, the point I use for the rear jack joint is right at the edge of the sheet aluminum covered bellypan right in front of the rear tire and just aft of the side pipe tips. The edge runs diagonally outboard from the center rails and is pop riveted to a square tube - which is really what you want to use. The trick is to get your jack squarely centered under the square tube as close to the main rails as you can. Use something to protect the aluminum from the jack and you may have to use a spacer. As for the front jack point, you will probably be coming in from behind the front wheels so you will have to reach far enough in to pick up the main frame rails and will have to make sure your jack is securely positioned so the main tube doesn't slip off. Two Post Lift Points for Coupe
I have Superformance Coupe 140 and a two post lift. I use the aft points of the aluminum plate that holds the engine bay fans for the forward lift points. The aft lift points are where the underneath sheet stops which has a frame member that extends to the edges of the frame. Here are a couple of photos. I am somewhat cheating since I haven't installed the headers yet.

Now you guys are way to fancy for me...the coupe I am finishing doesn't have a belly pan. But, I must say yours looks really nice.
