Anybody know the rest of the story on this coupe?

Saw this today on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Shelb...fCarsQ5fTrucks

Does anybody know any more info on this car (because the seller obviously doesn't). Can anyone tell what company this body is from?

Thanks,

Russ D.

No idea. But I'd run as fast and far as possible from this one. %/:eek:

Yes, the description and tone of the seller doesn't give me the "warm and fuzzy."

I'd have to go along with the above sentiments....pretty iffy.
Russ, I see your name here regularly and am wondering if you are the Russ Dickey that used to drag race Mustangs in the mid to late 60s? I think they were A/FX and later Pro Stock or Gasser/Altereds.

Nah, I was just a gleam in my daddy's eyes in the late 60s. But I've never heard of a Ford A/FX drag racer that shares my name - I would have thought my Ford-freak dad would have told me that. Are you sure you aren't thinking of the old Russ Davis Fords that Gas Ronda piloted?

I don't think so, I'll check out some of my old books, but was pretty sure it was Russ Dickey. It's a unique enough name i thought I'd ask. Looks like the Coupe didn't get any bids....

Think you missed this one....

"He is selling one fiberglass painted body, one rebuilt motor -fuel injected 5.0 liter, one manual tranny, rims tires and the aluminum interior parts. The one in the picture is the setup for sale, and has 4" tube rails for the main beams of the chassis with running gear and brakes from the 5.0 mustang. It will be registered as that mustang with dmv." Ok, so what is wrong with that statement

Nice looking coupe but without a MSO, it's not going anywhere soon.

Very interesting, almost looks like a splash of a Superformance coupe body. As for registratrion, all that is needed in Pennsylvania for the Special Constuction Process is a notorized bill of sale

Well, my eyes have been gleamed over a few times since then...I also slept a few times. It was Les Ritchey, not Russ Dickey...close your eyes and cover your ears..now say both names...sound identical don't they . I had to dig out some 1966 magazines, but found it.

I thought the body looked pretty good dimensionally, but wasn't thinking Superformance. I thought it looked like possibly an old Contemporary (now Lesher) body. At first I thought the frame sounded like FFR, especially with all the Mustang pieces that go with it, but that body doesn't look to me to be an FFR. Maybe the whole thing is some custom build.

Ah yes, Les Ritchey. They do sound very similiar, although if Ritchey were on the CC boards with us, Brent would have to have the servers checked for paranormal activity.
