Mecum to try again with CSX2601

After failing to meet the reserve price with a $6.8 million bid during its May auction, Mecum will try once again to sell the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe (CSX2601) at its Monterey auction on Aug 15 (Sat), 2009.

You've had three extra months to save your pennies, so good luck bidding...

Should be a much better venue for it. I was surprised when they put it in Indiana. But may still not hit reserve.

I would think that they would have a real buyer if they bring it back. Another no sell would not be good for the car or Mecum. However, it seems many cars at the mecum are NS? Is that normal?

Too bad the auction isn't a few days earlier - I could pick it up and then race it in the Historics the rest of the weekend... :3DSMILE:

I think they had something like a 60% sell through rate at the auction in FL in January. They interviewed Dana Mecum during the recent Bloomington Corvette auction and I believe he said the sell through was around 50%.

If I'm free, I may go down and watch the auction in Monterey. It's $10 to attend as a spectator.

If I drove that track in that car, I would need more than an extra sidepipe!

According to the Mecum website (www.mecum.com), CSX2601 sold today for $7.25 million USD. Were you the lucky buyer?
