New Coupe Book on CSX2601

Was in Monterey for the historics and Peter Brock has a new book on CSX2601. He says that it was his favorite of the six coupes because the lines of that particular car are the closest to what he envisioned and also because it was the car that won the championship. Cool book with a lot of stuff you can find in the Cobra Daytona Coupes book and also some cool photos and content from the press tour prior to the auction. I picked one up in Monterey. He only printed 100 and I think had about 25 left at the end of the weekend. You can contact him at www.bre2.net to see if there are still any left. It was really cool to see a $7m car parked in the parking lot at Baja Cantina last Thursday night just like any other car in the lot. Quite different from the "coupe under glass" treatment at Mecum back in Indy. No ropes, bodyguards, nothing. Cool to be able to see it up close.

You live a charmed life, Doug. Will you adopt me?

Any word on who the buyer was?

Pete told me the name of the guy, but can't remember it now. He is a private collector from Cincinatti.

I just ordered mine from Gayle. There's only about a dozen copies left. Hurry!!!! :)

SF_SN888KE 08-20-2009 06:50 AM

I sent them an email and left a messge at 6PM last night, Gayle called me back, and now I have one of their autographed books coming my way. $49 plus $4.80 for shipping.

She said that there was a box of books at Monterey that the staff did not know was in the back. Less than 20 left. They are thinking of doing a reprint, but it will be more expensive as they printed extras through Mecum. She was very nice to speak with.

Mine came in the mail today. It was a busy day, with a Colorado Shelby Breakfast Club BBQ at a city park in Longmont, CO.

Kramer was there!!!!

I skimmed the book mostly looking at the photographs. There are a couple that will make beautiful posters, and I'll be asking Peter/Gail if we can get some made up. The ones I want are on pages 40 and 61.

Guys,

I have been in contact with Gayle. It is sold out at the moment but as previously stated, they might run a new print once there is enough people on a "waiting list". I have my name on it as few others it seems. If you are interested send email to info@bre2.net. ;)

There are a few for sale on this site but does anyone know of a Daytona replica over 15 years old for sale (one ready to drive not just a "kit")? I am in Toronto and have learned that to import one up here from the States it has to be 15 years old...can I post a "want ad" on this site? Of course if I could find one of any age for sale here in Canada my problem would be solved. I wonder if leasing rather than buying would get around the 15 year import restriction?...probably not as that sounds too easy.

lots of these cars are titled as 1965 cars would that not be your best bet?

That won't help in Canada. They look at replicas as new and go from build date of the replica. There is another topic about that elsewhere.

Good luck!
