Gear Shift Position: Need Spacer Advice

I am writing to get some advice on my gearshift placement/position. My toploader has linkage that is really far to the left...which also places the gearshift on the left side of my trans tunnel. I would like to get this gear shift in a more centered position so it isn't hitting my leg. I had a couple of ideas ranging from bending the gear shift shaft to adding in a spacer between the gear shift mount on the transmission and the gearshift shaft. I have come to the conclusion that the spacer is the way to go.

Before I fab up my own, I have a couple of questions:
1.) Is there any recommended sources for gear shift spacers for toploaders? 2.) If not, what material would you suggest I use to make the spacer (Square tube, solid stock, etc)?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Get a hold of David Kee.....there's an adapter that centers the shifter handle on the trans.

I just took my shifter, trans and all the other stuff out and put in a TKO600.

Want to buy all of the stuff?

I have Hurst two shifters, but one is messed up. I used it for setting up the tunnel hole and shift handle. The other is a working shifter. I have a forged shift handle that moves the handle to the center of the tunnel. It is powder coated Solar Black. I have a set of dogs for a toploader and shift arms.

I think there is a picture in my gallery of all of the stuff.

Here's the pic.

Congrats on your install of the TKO600. I am good with the current shifter combo as of right now. Just really need the spacer. Thanks for the offer however.

I have contacted David but without success. Any other options?

You couldn't get a hold of him, or he didn't have it?

I talked to him Friday and ordered parts, so he's around....

He should have the part; he sold me everything for mine...

I'm having the same issues with my Galaxie toploader. There are several options, including a spacer/plate assy that places the shifter more toward the rear. If you are using the same trans & shifter, it should be centered enough. My problem seems to be getting the shifter positioned rearward on the tunnel. ERA recommends using a Mustang tailshaft, but my unit is complete from a Galaxie and I might just use an aftermarket shifter (reverse bend). I'm still working out the problem.
Kee has a phone hotline to answer quetions...just go to the link and call them.

I wasn't clear in my post. He has not responded to my email that I sent him.
