Lake Mirror Classic Auto Festival
On Saturday October 16th I attended the annual Lake Mirror Classic Auto Festival In downtown Lakeland Florida. The Deep South Cobra Club pushed this show for a larger Cobra attendance than in past years and it worked as the Cobra attendance doubled in size. Mike Cheek a local Cobra enthusiast invited the cobra club to join him and his wife at his home for an after car show dinner party and with the cobras parked in his driveway he had ½ the group show at his home. I would like to thank Mike and his wife as my wife and I had a great time. While I did not participate in the actual car show I was there to take pictures and those pictures are now up at Picasa and here is the link:

The 2010 Lake Mirror Classic Auto Festival was a “Smashing Success” according to event Chairman Ford Heacock. A cloudless day with perfect Fall temperatures emphasized the brilliance of the chrome and color of nearly 700 classic show cars in Downtown Lakeland, FL. Nearly 200 volunteers contributed to flawless execution of hosting what must be considered central Florida’s premier collector car event. The Chamber of Commerce weather brought out a huge crowd of spectators – filling the streets of downtown Lakeland and the promenade of Lake Mirror Park. Previous estimates of 35,000 spectators must have surely been exceeded.
Trying to take pictures really proves that the attendance figures are correct, trying to get just the cars can really be hard with all the arms and legs in the pictures. |
Very nice Dan, thanks for posting. It takes a lot of time and effort, and it's great for guys like me who missed another great event.
